Welcome Falcons, it’s time to register for classes! This guide is designed to help you choose the best course options during the 2022- 23 school year. Please be mindful when selecting all core classes, electives, and alternates. You will receive a combination of your requested courses. Please give alternate choices the same consideration as primary choices. You are expected to keep your assigned schedule.ReminderCurrent Falcons– You will need your PowerSchool loginto register for classes. StudentServices Current 9th-11th grade GH students will register for courses in PowerSchool between March 1st and March 15th. Student Services will present registration information to classes. Dual Enrollment (CCP) Wake Tech Community College offers free courses through their Dual Enrollment (CCP) program. Eligible students can choose between two pathways: CTE Pathway: Credentialing College Transfer (CT) Pathway: designed for high school juniors and seniors who wish to Click Image begin earning college credit AdvancedPlacement (AP) Are you considering taking an AP Course this year? AP classes are college-level courses taken at the high school level. Taking and passing an AP exam in May could result in earning college credits. When contemplating the decision of taking AP classes, students and parents should be aware that these courses are rigorous and include intense reading and writing assignments. Click Image
Promotion English I; 2 credits in the areas of 9th to 6 math, social studies, or science; and 3 10th Credits additional credits English II; 1 credit in math; 1 credit in 10th to 12 social studies; 1 credit in science; & 2 11th Credits additional credits English III; enrollment in a program 11th to which, if successfully accomplished, 18 12th will result in the completion of Credits graduation requirements High school students shall be promoted by attaining credits that are earned through successful completion of specific courses as illustrated in the above chart. Note that the appropriate English credit is required for promotion each year. GPA A student’s grade point average (GPA) is calculated by adding all quality points earned while in high school (grades 9-12) and dividing by the number of courses taken. The weighted GPA includes any additional quality points earned by taking Honors/AP/IB courses, while the unweighted GPA does not include any additional quality points. Courses that are assigned Ps, PC-19 and credits earned via Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM) do not count towards the overall GPA.

ENTERING COURSE SELECTIONS 1. Go to wcpss.powerschool.com/public 2. Enter your username and password 3. Click on “Class Registration;” it’s located in the left margin 4. To register for your classes– click on the pencil icon next to each subject 5. Please select 8 classes and 4 alternates 6. Once you have selected 8 courses AND have selected 4 alternates, click on SUBMIT at the bottom of the page Remember, you must select 8 primary courses and 4 alternates Choose your classes wisely– do not choose a course that you are not committed to take (even alternates)
Registration Checklist Determine the courses needed to meet the minimum promotion and graduation requirements. Refer to the WCPSS High School Program Planning Guide for information. Review teacher recommendations in Powerschool. Students should to speak with teachers about the courses they are interested in taking so that teachers can provide appropriate guidance to help prepare students for course rigor. Review the additional information in the “General Information” section of the program planning guide. If applicable, complete course applications for any courses that require an application. Application course details will be located on the Student Services website. The deadline to submit all applications is May 3rd. Review your selections with your parents/guardians to ensure you have registered for the courses you need in order to meet graduation and college requirements. Parents/Guardians must sign the Course Printout from PowerSchool. Students will turn in their signed sheets to their 2nd Period Teacher after submitting their The deadline to complete course registration in PowerSchool choices. March 15th. Counselors will be available to assist you in registering for classes between March 1st and March 15th at Counselor Corner during lunch. Planning Form This registration planning form is designed for planning purposes only. Students will transfer their selections from this form to the online registration process in PowerSchool. Students will submit a parent /guardian signed copy of the their course selections to their 2nd Period Teacher after it has been finalized in PowerSchool. If you are a rising 9th grader, you must choose a Healthful Living option and three additional elective choices.
