Thread: Think before you post: Stop with the bashing

Default Think before you post: Stop with the bashing

I've said this in several threads, including some I had to close. I figured at this point, I might as well say it in a separate thread, to make sure everyone reads this:

I've said it several times, and I will say it again. Maybe this time people will read it and listen. We are all upset over Michelle's injury and the uncertainty of what will happen with the Olympics. I understand, trust me. Maybe if you vent out loud when looking at the computer screen, you can get it out of your system rather than posting it here. Michelle withdrawing from Nationals does not mean open season on other skaters OR other posters. Knock it off.

And since I'm here, I'll link to the FAQ again. I think some posters here really need to read it over. Thanks!

i think people should be nicer as well!

some new people like myself, have gotten absolutely CHEWED out over editing, posting, etc...

i mean it's ok to tell someone something but to have an attitude about it is rediculous!

let us not forget that when we are new to something, we dont read the directions first...

the human nature in all of us is to play with the toy without knowing how to work it!

    so please be nicer...

that goes for the newest of newbies to the highest of admins like heather...

this is NOT a place for attitudes regardless of your position or the massive number of posts you may have...

    ~happy posting!

Maybe you should read over your posts about Sasha (including your signature) and apply this statement to yourself.

The FAQ ("directions") are there for a reason and are MANDATORY reading before posting. A lot of work went into them, they are there for a reason, and everytime people spit on idea of that and say "hey, why should I read it?", yea, it is going to annoy me and the majority of members who do read the FAQ & follow the rules. They are there to make the board work & run smoothly.

i agree, but some of you [not necessarily you] are rude...

and please, everyone has something in their siggy...not just me...if they dont like it, don't read it...their is a button to ignore right...?

and anyways, i dont think it's bashing...just my opinion of hilarious articles and sasha actions...and beside...that's not what i am talking about. i'm talking about other member clobbering newbies for SMALL things...

Heather, lol, i'm not going to fight with you...not intended to, lol...i'm just stating some things that bug me and a few others...and all i was pointing out was that most people dont read...they should...but they don't.

they aren't trying to be mean, they are just so anxious to talk about michelle and skating...that's all. and hey, i'm sure you knew that running a forum was not going to be cake...so errors on the parts of posters should be acknowledge, not patronized. i will say that when you sent me those messages you were simple doing your job and did not make me feel awful like some others would...

my appologies if i offended you...i did not mean to affend anyone...just making people aware that they should simple be nicer to newbies...

    As michelle would say...

Thanks Heather. I appreciate the hard work that you, Grace, and the other moderators do here.

What MKalltheway stated is good advice, and there should be respect for other skaters because they're individuals too. Hatred is a very powerful tool, and it doesn't show respect for anyone.

I hope I'm not out of line here with what I have to say. I've been an admin. myself, and it's not an easy job. When hate is involved and it's directed toward one individual, the circumstances can become rather uneasy and ugly. Sometimes, it results into a type of behavior where the individual is harrassed by someone who has a stalkerish obsession.

Thank you, Heather. It would definitely help, and might prevent something being posted that might be considered hateful.

Thanks for this post I think the basic rule on a forum is to behave in a respectful and nice way to the other members.Everyone has the right to speak their minds, but it should never become a violent demonstration. We talk about figure skating and I don't think such a topic should lead to arguments. Moreover, bashing any skaters is pointless and pretty unpolite, they are all wonderful but we are subjective beings and everyone's got different perceptions.Diversity is a gift, let's not spoil it all.

I may be new to posting, but not to reading, and I've been visitng this site for a long time. Some of the digs that have gone on are just too much. Remember, diplomacy must reign. Isn't that the point of democracy?
