    Default Dear Michelle,

    Dear Michelle,

I know you may not read this with everything that has been going on in your life. I am not here to say that you deserved a berth at the Olympics, Iím not here to list your titles and accomplishments, Iím not here to say I believe in you and MKF believes in you.

I am here to let you know that no matter what anyone says, whether itís family, friends, media, USFA, or MKF that it is truly up to you to believe in what you can do and what you are capable of doing. The first key to success is, trusting yourself, like I have to tell you that , youíve had success many times over. Only you know your body and you know your metal strength. No one should influence your decision in any way, and I am sure you know that. But I do know that words, expectations from others can really affect your decision. Simply take the time for yourself, just you and search deep down in your heart and soul and you will find the wayÖ

I found it in my heart that I do believe in myself, Iím sure you know that positive thinking and belief in one self can take you far. It is truly difficult for anyone to put themselves in your shoes.

With that I leave you a little story about your influence on me.

I am 24 year old male and never skated before in my life. I just started three months ago and I never imagine I would be doing the things I am doing today. I had such a passion for figure skating since I watched your 96 LP Worlds and I knew I can do it too, unfortunately my family values did not support figure skating nor did my family have the money to spend. Now that I am an adult and have the opportunity to support myself through a few lessons, I am amazed at myself how far Iíve gone. With confidence, trust in one self and believe in one you truly can accomplish anything. I never listed to any of my friends or co workers that skating is hard. I knew it was hard, but I knew I could do it too.

Three months ago I can barely stay on my feet, now I am able to do jumps like flips, loops, salcow, and toe loopsÖ It makes me happy each day I am on the ice. Thank you for inspiring me, thank you for your courageous efforts, thank you for being a role model, not just on my skating but also through my professional career. Pressure, challenges and difficulties can break you or make you, and I am glad that you have showed to many of us what we mere humans can truly accomplish if you just believe in yourself.
