Arrow 2006 ST LOUIS NATIONALS INFO & GATHERING - Update 01-07-06

THE POLL IS CLOSED. THE CHOSEN ESTABLISHMENT FOR THE GATHERING IS MAGGIE O'BRIEN'S!!!

NEW GATHERING INFORMATION, PLEASE READ COMPLETELY AND REPLY!!!

Hello everyone!! This is stemmed from the Original Gathering Thread. I'm assuming that everyone knows what's going on now. It would be wonderful if all those that are still interested in a gathering during Nationals could reply to this thread. I feel we've lost quite a few people in our move and I need a more definite list of interested people as Nationals is less than ONE WEEK away!!!! I greatly urge everyone to thoroughly read everything within this thread. Please check out the choices below and reply to this thread with your thoughts.

    THE GATHERING

Great news… we have a date and time. The “official” MKF gathering will be on

Thursday, January 12, 2006 at 12:30 PM at Maggie O’Brien’s Restaurant and Irish Pub.

The reservation is under my name and the MKF is noted. If you have any inquiries you’d rather address to the manager at the restaurant, ask for Pat McVey at 314-421-1388.

Maggie O'Briens has a web page, located here, which many of you have already seen. Feel free to view the site.

I will post a map of the area around Maggie's/Union Station that will also mark the Savvis Center and the major hotels very soon. Please be looking for that by Sunday night.

[I]Let it be known that everyone is responsible for payment of their own food and etc. The gathering is not otherwise funded. Anyone wishing to donate towards the offset cost of the gathering (to be charitable for everyone attending) may make a payment to my PayPal account, synnabun@hotmail.com. I will keep a detailed list of those that do pay any amount in advance, minus PayPal's fees. LIkewise, you may pay for your meal in advance to my PayPal until this Saturday (01-07-06... first day of Nationals). That way, you will not have to worry about paying at the gathering.

    EVENT & PRACTICE SCHEDULES

The newest event & complete competition and practice schedule information was posted here at the USFSA. Many event times have been changed, so it is important that everyone check the schedules and keep the new information with their tickets!! The documents are in PDF format, so you will need Acrobat Reader to view them. The previous event schedule is located on the ticketing page at the official St. Louis Nationals site... and that site should be updated soon. Ticket holders may find the individual event times on their tickets, with the exceptions provided on the newest schedules.

I have made a readable and printable format of the information listed here as well as the complete practice and event schedule. My MS Word document is available to anyone that wishes to have it. You may also view a web format of the document, located here, at my web page. It is a free webpage and bandwidth is very limited. You may email me through the MKF and I will send it to you as an attachment as soon as I can.

Practice groups are listed in files (again in PDF format) on the USFSA event site for each level: Senior, Junior and Novice (why they aren't on the STL2006 site is beyond my comprehension).

    SEATING

You may view a general snapshot from your section at this wizard: Savvis Center Seating Locator. You don't get a view from your exact seat, but it's good enough for those curious. This page, Seating Information, includes detailed information about seats (wheelchair accomodations and etc).

Judges will be in sections 102 through 104
Kiss & Cry is in section 107
ABC Platform is in section 108
My seat is section 110, Row E, Seat 8
VIP Seating is rows A - G (They are marked Plaza on the tickets... but they go through row G... seven rows from the ice)
Plaza is from row H and beyond.
    Lower Mezzanine is A - F
    Upper Mezzanine is G - R
Seats in all rows are numbered left to right with seat number 1 located closest to the preceding section. For example, seat 1 in each row of section 102 is closest to section 101. (look at map for that to make sense!)

For those that want to let other MKFers know where they are sitting... go to this thread: Tickets, Tickets and reply to let everyone know! Handlem9z and myself are keeping track of everyone through the threads mentioned here. Please do not leave messages in the thread confirming everyone's hotel and seating arrangements... such replys can be left in this thread and the Tickets thread mentioned above.

Don't forget to check out other St. Louis threads and websites as well!

    Original Gathering Thread

Nationals Hotel and Seating Confirmation Thread Please be sure to let us know what hotel you're staying at and where your seats are located... should you choose to have such information made public.

What to wear... or not... in St. Louis

Official 2006 Nats Website If you haven't seen this site yet... you're wayyyy behind!! This has information on ticketing, official hotels (Sheraton, Hyatt, Renaissance Grand, Mayfair, Adams Mark), transportation and much more!

Explore St. Louis.com This is a great informational site.

    ETA:

*I've added a poll so that everyone may make their vote clearer. Please do not forget to vote if you're attending. I've made voting public so that I may keep track of who prefers what. Thank you!!!

*I've added more information from the STL2006 committee that verifies the seating arrangement of the Savvis Center.

*I've changed the title to be more inclusive of everything for Nationals. I want this thread to answer everyone's questions and concerns as well as to keep everyone informed and together!

*12-10-05 I'll soon be contacting the Savvis Center to find out their regulations on banners and posters, so that we know for sure what we can and cannot have in the arena. No response yet(as of 12-18-05).

*12-10-05 Added newest info from St. Louis 2006/USFSA about event and practice schedules. Practice group information added as well.

    *12-19-05 Added a disclaimer:

The only information that I require is your choice for the gathering and how many people will be with you, including yourself (but not other MKFers/id’s). I need this information to make our reservation and to see to it that everyone will be accommodated (seating, food, name stickers & etc.) at the gathering. The information in this file is to be used only as a means of communication between MKF members and will not be used by myself for any other purpose. Any information you provide is strictly voluntary and you have the right to provide no information whatsoever or to request that your information be kept private.

*12-26-05 GATHERING Please view thread number 50 for the current update on the gathering!!!

*12-27-05 Page three and on contains information on the gathering. Please read and reply with your input. Thread #69 contains my ideas and suggestions!

*12-29-05 Gathering information added towards top of the file!

*01-01-06 Happy New Year! Added Rules and Regulations in a seperate post within this thread... located here.

*01-03-06 The St. Louis web site has added the Rules And Regulations PDF again. The file looks the same to me... only with a clean looking color logo. It is a pdf... so you'll need Adobe Reader and all that good stuff. I'd suggest right clicking (or whatever) to save the file for your records!

*01-03-06 Added must read information on the gathering. Please review if you plan on attending. I need an exact head count!

Thank you for looking!! Please reply with all thoughts, comments, advice, questions and concerns!

My vote goes for Maggie O'Briens based on the menu and the prices. They seem to have the largest variety.

Thanks again for setting this up, and also thanks for all the links!

I agree with Krista; Maggie O's sounds like fun and is close to Savvis.
Like the menu-especially the Irish flair since my last name's McNeill!

Maggie for me, but curious, if myself and 2 others so far voted Maggies, how come it says 1?
Also want to know if Sam's idea for after lp is still in the works. I sure hope so.
    Are you reading me Sam???

Poll results show that you voted for Mike Shannon's.

The poll is a bit confusing as I just about voted for Mike Shannon's as it and Maggie O's are switched in order in the restaurant descriptions from the order they are listed on the poll- maybe that is what happened to others? I had to read again and double check before voting. I voted Maggie O's. Thanks for organizing all of this synnabun

    BTW: What does "Bad@$$violinist" mean?

I play the violin. It's from a sticker I bought years ago. It's on the inside of my case and always get's a good laugh from anyone that hasn't seen it before. I use @$$ as opposed to the other spelling because I don't want to offend anyone. Sticker picture

Thank you everyone for your comments and praise. I'm just doing what I can to get things moving. I was going to make this thread sooner... but I wanted to wait until the tickets arrived to get the ball rolling. I figured once people have their tickets, they'll be wondering what we're up to!

I voted for Maggie's but just wanted to let you know that it doesn't really matter to me all that much which is chosen. I'll be there!

I voted for Hard Rock but I'm equally enthused about Maggie's since they are both close to the Hyatt.

I'll be in St. Louis from the 11th to the 15th, and would love to join everyone for dinner. Meeting so many MKFers would make my first trip to Nationals even better!

    Default Me, too!

I'm arriving the 11th and anxious to join any gathering thereafter! Not fussy about where, except I'd prefer it not be too long a walk from the arena.

BTW, I'm not really a newbie. I organized the Chinese food gathering at Worlds 2003 in DC.

And you did a great job!! Looking forward to seeing you (and everyone) again!

I voted for Maggie's b/c it seems like it's closest to Savvis. Although based on the Sat schedule, it'll be hard to plan a gathering before the Ladies LP. But I think it's best to have a location close to the arena, so people can easily come from either an event or a practice.

I picked Mike's but am equally fine with any choice as long as we can get together and have some fun as a group. I look forward to meeting fellow MKFers and will be just as happy in a school cafeteria (perhaps without the school food though )

I just checked the official St. Louis website, and they've posted an updated schedule of events. It says the times on some of the tickets may be incorrect now. I'm not sure which event times have changed, but here's a link to the new schedule:

I've just gotten the new info and will add it to the information above as soon as I can! They've provided the practice schedule as well (which also includes the schedule for ice resurfacing too... lol).

They moved up the times of the daytime events (all junior) on Tues and Wed, presumably to make it easier fpr people to get to Savvis in time for the Senior events later in the afternoon. They also moved up the time of the Junior CD on Mon at Savvis. Also, the Junior Ladies FS on Fri aftn has been moved up 1 hour, as has the Senior Pairs FS.

Hey, depending on the practice schedule, Friday night might be a good time to have the MKF dinner. The Senior Pairs will probably end around 5:30, and even though the Senior Dance FD starts at 7:30, the big names won't appear until a bit later. I guess it depends how much people want to watch the entire comp.

    Default Practice Schedule

Michelle is in practice group A. Does that mean she is practicing at the first time listed? It doesn't specify which practice group is at what time. I am confused???
