Heart I met Michelle - and I'll never recover!!!!!

    Wow....

You know that saying "You should never meet your idols?" - that is true................unless your idol is Michelle Kwan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First - it was a fundraiser for The Aliveness Project, a Minnesota based non-profit that helps those living with HIV/Aids - it was at a restaurant that is owned by a friend of her's. The event was a kick off to LGBT Pride month....

The event was from 4-8 - I arrived around 3 lol. I had trouble breathing but got that under control lol (I, until now, had never met her!)

All of this is a buzz - feels like a dream, but I'll try to remember as much as possible.

She arrived to little fanfare (some people had no clue who she was??......what world do they live in????) - the manager brought her over to us almost right away cause they knew I was an uber-insane fan. She said hello - then invited herself to sit down at my table! She asked first - Michelle you can sit down at my table ANY TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my right skate - which she happily signed for me! When I skate tomorrow I expect to have super powers!!!!!!!!!! I don't remember what I really said at the table - I DID mention MKF - I said we miss her holiday posts - she said she hasn't posted in awhile as Instagram is just easier - cut to me finally downloading Instagram (I only got Twitter for Cher, now I have instagram for MK). She couldn't have been more lovely!!!!! I could've stopped and died here - but it went further!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She sat at her table - with a view for the drag show, which she several times got out her iPhone to record! She was enjoying everything going on a lot.

They had a professional photographer set up and I somehow ended up getting more photos with her twice (it's such a blur!)

When she was leaving she stopped by my table again and I said something - it ended up with us hugging. :-)

Long story short - or short story long - or whatever.........................she could not have been more lovely! My love for her is insane and intense and has only grown - she is a wonderful person, in sports and out. AND - she was rocking a Gucci fanny pack LOL - so adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow. Pinch me - I'm done :-)

Let me know if this link doesn't work.................I think it should...............

Thank you for sharing your wonderful report, which for me was almost like being there! It's like the Old Days here on MKF tonight! While I'll never be able to meet Michelle, it always does my heart a lot of good to read about people who have met Michelle for the first time. I do hope that you'll be able to meet her again sometime. Incidentally, your Link works fine and your photos are great!

Been over 24 hours - I'm still not back to normal. I was explaining it to a friend of mine - having Michelle Kwan sign my skate is the equivalent to a devout religious person having Jesus sign their Bible - it's something that doesn't happen and isn't real! Even looking at the pictures I still think it was a dream.

I didn't embarrass myself - I didn't throw up on her (I was so nauseous before she arrived) - she made is so easy. I forgot she's my idol (sort of), I forgot she's the best figure skater of all time (sort of) - she was just so normal. I watched her drinking wine and recording drag queens on her phone lol............people were dining that had no clue who she is...........How she can be normal is beyond me...........if she has an ego, she's very good at hiding it. Surya Bonaly coaches in Minneapolis at a rink right by my house and I've talked to her a few times now - when I mentioned Michelle to her she said what we all hear from everyone - Michelle is the sweetest person you could ever meet. It's so true. Now I just want to skate with her one time - even though I'd just get off the ice and watch :-)

I'll never forget it. Nothing could be better. I skated today - I'm 36 now - a girl that liked to give me dirty looks (even though I'm still doing double toe loops and double salchows) asked me about the writing on my boot......................I said - "It's Michelle Kwan's signautre" - she said "ohhhh......"....................lol. She's 18 - she doesn't know how amazing MK was...................skating isn't the same - MK was the end of amazing skaters. Yuna loved Michelle for a reason. I met her 4 days ago - so AMAZING! Ugh..................Damn i miss Michelle...........

That is so awesome, donny! But how could you not mention those fabulous shoes?!

I feel it's our job to educate the young generation as to Michelle's awesomeness. So every time I get the chance when I'm subbing, I show them her YouTube videos. They are always suitably impressed.

What a fantastic experience, donnylutz --- am so envious of you.

I've said it before and will continue hoping that it happens -- it would be wonderful if there were a "Senior" Olympics for those who were Olympians … would be fantastic to see them now and what they could still bring to the ice. I remember a fantastic skate of Kurt Browning (televised ice show) -- he didn't have one jump in his program but it was so intricate and absolutely stunning. He was incredible! He proved you don't need jumps to deliver a fabulous skate.

If Michelle Kwan were to organize and skate in a tour -- she could combine Special Olympics athletes with "Seniors" -- I think her colleagues would come back to the ice to skate in a ice show with her -- it would be spectacular and beyond belief. My daughter and I would never miss her performances on TV -- it was a very special shared activity for us. It would be back such special memories for so many of us who followed her ice skating career and her off-ice career over the years. I was fortunate enough to have seen her perform in person in Orlando -- twice … she was amazing!

Fingers crossed that this message is brought to her attention. Wishing Ms. Kwan continued success in her professional life and great happiness in her personal life.

Tell her to watch Michelle on Youtube....... as for the dirty looks; that's just rude.
