    Default Possible malware

When I click on links in the main page I am frequently getting new tabs alongside the page I intended to read. Sometimes they are for something like an ad for a PDF converter, whatever that is, but many times I get a message from my antivirus system saying the website was blocked because of possible malicious content. I close the tab and find I am on the MKF page I intended to access, with no further problems. You may wish to investigate the possibility that the forum is infected with some sort of malware that is redirecting us.

Same thing happens to me. I think it is meant to be advertising. Perhaps it helps to pay for keeping the forum alive.

This has been happening to me as well, for the last three months, every time I access MKF, which is why I've been on MKF hardly at all lately. I e-mailed Grace about this a while ago, and she is aware of the problem. However, she also indicated that the fix would cost around $400.

Would there be a way for us to donate towards the cost of fixing the board? I know that at one time people were able to make donations to help with the cost MKF's upkeep.

I would donate-- maybe not be a large donation, but I'd do my best! I don't really understand the issue, but hopefully it can be fixed.

I just started getting a malicious link pop up message from my Kaspersky anti-virus whenever I click on anything on this site. Don't know if any of the mods will see this, but just wanted to warn others who come here.

I wish I knew more about this problem. I've been more suspicious than ever--especially since learning about the many "cyber" attacks that have occurred in recent days/months.

I too have had problems lately.

I don't get any nastygrams but I just give up because I get a "connecting" message for an excessive amount of time.

This tends to be worse in the late nightime hours MST.

Sorry, this was the worst that MKF has been hacked I believe thank you to Rick in notifying me of the problem. Whoever hacked MKF, removed all *.php files, leaving the site empty.

I've been told that once a hacker hacks one's web site, they know the site is vulnerable so they are susceptible to getting repeatedly hacked. There is one page in particular that keeps on getting hacked and it leads to miscellaneous sites - could be advertising a Windows cleaner, to porn, to viagra, to whatever. It is very hard to manage the malware, since MKF does not have a firewall installed. To install a firewall it is very expensive, which I just don't have the money for (and this would prevent the malware). This web site exists mainly out of pocket for me as it is and has been for many years.

I don't monitor MKF as much as I used to, so if there are any problems you encounter, please e-mail me. Sometimes I have time to get to it right away, some times I do not. I have adblock on, so I may miss seeing some of the malware that you guys are seeing. I try to clean it up when I can. Excuse the horrible grammar/sentence structure .. I reread the blob and it's just a horribly structured post but... at least the site is back up?

    Thanks!

I was finally able to get back in yesterday...the 29th which happens to be the big 76 for me.

I'll consider that a birthday present.

    Thanks Grace

Thank you so much Grace. There used to be a Community Chest where members could donate to help defray costs. If that returned, I would certainly help out. Let us know how we can ease any financial stress this old but beloved site may be causing.

BTW, your post was beautifully composed, as the issues were clearly stated... which is the point. (Canít say as much for mine)
