I thought the other thread was getting a little too long, so here's a new one. Post away!

I was going to ask you about starting a fresh thread on the same topic. Thanks so much. It was getting a bit long and I believe there's much more news to come before the primary election on September 9th. And, if Clay wins the primary, we may have to begin again!!

    Clay's new ad, about teachers.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuenSZto8bQ

The teacher that appears in this ad tweeted:

Super fun having my students say I'm a tv star! Thanks @ClayPell for the opportunity to stand with you for RI students and teachers.
Clay is knocking it out of the park with these positive ads, low-key but straight to the point.

Michelle's got that "Isn't he something!" look down.

    Any volunteers?

Clay's team actually opened two new offices today (7/12)--one earlier in Pawtucket and the one in Newport.

Don't forget (as Mathman2 posted above): Michelle is once again offering the prize of a skating session with winner of contest--a supporter who volunteers three times!

An interesting blog about Clay being a "fresh face in RI politics" has been posted. It's getting a lot of mention on his "twitter search" page:

A few more tweets regarding the campaign. Michelle and Clay, of course, are giving it their all! It makes me tired just thinking about how they spend their days. I wonder about Michelle's position w/State Dept.??

A tweet from one of the recipients of a phone call from Michelle (7/16)

    Lori Cummings ‏@lkcummings18
How cool is to receive a call from Michelle Kwan? Pretty darn cool, I'll say!

Tweet about tonight's (7/16) Women for Pell meeting:

    Lauren Morris ‏@luna_morris
#WomenforPell will be meeting at the Cranston office tonight, reaching out to potential voters @MichelleWKwan @ClayPell

Mathman2 will enjoy this: (another debate tomorrow)

Jordan van Leesten ‏@jvanleesten Can't wait to hear @ClayPell in the debate tomorrow night at 7pm on NBC! We are literally #ReadyForTomorrow. #teampell!

This festival is cherished by Buddhists in Thailand and Laos, and tells the story of an incarnation of the Buddha as an earthly prince who gave away his rain-producing white elephant to a neighboring kingdom that was suffering from drought.

Rhode Island seems to offer a dazzling smorgasbord of national and ethnic diversity.

Teach23, I too wonder about Michelle's position with the State Dept.

If you go to the U.S. State Department Web site

    http://www.state.gov

and search for Michelle Kwan a bunch of recent past and current articles and videos featuring Michelle come up. (They are not listed in order of date, so you have to look on page 2, page 3, etc.) Three were released on July 14, July 16, and July 17, 2014. They were about the Olympics and Paralympics, women in sports, etc.

Here is one from July 14 that was subtitled in a bunch of different languages.

    http://eca.state.gov/video/sochi-201...iya-v-deystvii

I don't know when these videos were made, but the State Department is still using Michelle's name, image and voice, so I assume she still has a job.

Mathman2, you are amazing. Thanks so much for this info. Love the way you investigate events. Thanks for the Michelle news about her State Dept.

I did! Here it is, for anyone who is up to an hour's worth of politicians' speeches with no Michelle in sight.

    http://www.turnto10.com/video?clipId...autostart=true

My impression. Clay was the most earnest and passionate of the four candidates. He spoke with erudition and conviction. He hit out of the park on education and also won the segment on encouraging tourism and improving the image of rhode Island (in my opinion)

Gina Raimondo also scored big points. She gave the best answers on immigration reform and on guns and violence. Overall I would rate the debate a tie between Raimondo and Pell.

I thought Mr. Taveras (the front-runner according to the polls) was slightly off his game and tended to speak in generalities. (To be fair, they all did, to a certain extent.)

The fourth candidate, Mr. Giroux, is out of his depth and will not attract many voters, I am afraid.

(I was comPELLed to write this report.)

The Michelle Kwan Forum is very lucky to have teach23 and Mathman2 to keep us all posted on Michelle and Clay's activities. They are both so busy, it is almost a full time job for both of you. I am a novice when it comes to computers and would never be so informed if it weren't for the two of you. Thank you so very much.

Mathman2, I am comPELLed to compliment you on your superior and insightful reporting skills. Thanks so much for the info.

CAROLB, it's so true that Clay and Michelle are incredibly busy! But, honestly, it's not hard to find the information. The hardest part is getting the thread or post typed in some kind of reasonable order. And, for now, I enjoy it tremendously.

I wholeheartedly agree! In fact, if not for teach23 and Mathman2, and all they've done and do, I think that MKF might well have shut down a year ago. For a while there, MKF was literally a ghost town, and I feared its closure daily.

I am not in the same league with Teach23 , but the reason that the MK Forum is still going is that Michelle's post-skating life has been as interesting and inspiring as her competitive years.

I think her post-skating life will ultimately be significantly more important than her stellar skating career.

I just wish that so many of the prominent members who used to post here regularly would return.
