Default "Divergent Realities -- A Lesson from Michelle"

I really couldn’t describe the place in detail. I just had the vague impression that I was standing inside a large hall in a museum or other public place. One specific detail I do remember is that there was a row of five large television screens embedded in one of the walls. Below each screen was a large red button. When you pressed a button, a video of Michelle Kwan would start playing on the screen above, in which she would convey a piece of wisdom based upon her life and career experiences. A different video played on each screen, and in each video Michelle covered a different topic. Unfortunately, I can’t recall what any of the topics were; but each video was intended to make a specific point about something important. The videos were brief, perhaps thirty seconds to a minute long; and in each one Michelle was attired in the same clothing -- casual black long pants, and a blue short-sleeved shirt.

A large crowd packed the place, such that there was standing room only.

Suddenly Michelle was there in person, wearing the same black pants and blue shirt as in the videos. I happened to be the person standing closest to her. As soon as she appeared, she walked straight up to me, and with her left hand gently grasped me by my right upper arm, then led me to a point about five feet away.

Having done that, as the other people looked on, Michelle said to me:

“I moved you here, from where you were standing before, to make a point. While I moved you but a few feet, the result is that reality will now gradually diverge from the reality that would have continued if I had left you standing in your original spot.

“Even such a small and seemingly inconsequential change as this will trigger a cascading chain of events that will ultimately result in a reality much different from the reality that would have existed if I hadn’t moved you.

“More than thirty years ago, when my family first came to the United States . . .”

. . . And right then, maddeningly, before I could hear the rest of what Michelle had to say, I awoke from this dream at 5:00 a.m. on May 18, 2014.

The main thing that struck me about this dream was how beautiful, how lovely, Michelle looked in person, standing a mere foot away from me. Her face aglow, she was far more beautiful than any photograph I’ve ever seen of her could possibly convey.

This brings to mind something that an ardent Michelle fan, who has been fortunate enough to meet her in person on several occasions, once shared with me:

“Meeting Michelle is very rare. But OH, so incredible. Her hands are as soft as her heart. And you cannot imagine how beautiful she is in person...no photo has even come close!”

And I would imagine that no dream, however vivid, could come close either.

Intriguing, mysterious, beautiful, touching--I could go on, Rick. My hope is that you will one day meet Michelle in person. I believe that she will be just as she is described in your story. Thanks for sharing, once again!

And I hope that you will, as well!
