Default "My Meeting with Michelle Among the Used Printed Circuit Boards"

The warehouse I found myself in was huge, as big as a COSTCO. It was packed with aisle after aisle of long tables on which rested large plastic bins filled to their tops with old electronics parts, components, and accessories -- used printed circuit boards; blister packs of resistors, capacitors, transistors, and integrated circuits; small analog meters; coils of different-colored wire; wire-stripping pliers; transformers; speakers; toggle and knife switches; knobs; small light bulbs and sockets; soldering irons and rolls of solder; rolls of electrician's tape; etc. -- of exactly the sort I used to see and peruse in my local RadioShack store back in 1970.

The place was jam-packed with people, so many you could hardly move; and an additional mass of people overflowed outside into the parking lot. The reason was that a personal appearance and autograph-signing by Michelle was being held in the building. Why Michelle would be appearing and signing autographs in a huge warehouse filled with obsolete electronic parts, I have no idea.

Anyway, I decided that here, at long last, was my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Michelle in person. As I was making my way towards the knot of people surrounding Michelle, however, a diminutive elderly gentleman, bald and with a sharply pointed beard, and garbed in a rumpled suit, walked up to me and asked me if I'd help him. To me he looked like a long-tenured university English professor.

He explained that he needed help in delivering a large bin of cookies to a neighboring city, and asked me if I'd accompany him to that city to assist him in this task. Being something of a helpful sort, I agreed. Accompanying him outside to the parking lot, I lifted the bin of cookies, which was quite heavy, into the trunk of his car.

Just as I was getting into his car, however, I stopped and exclaimed, "No, doggone it! I'm going to meet Michelle if it's the last thing I do!"

Reentering the warehouse, I made my way through the crowd over to Michelle. Standing next to her was a young blonde woman, a prominent British figure skater named Melissa Nyegoode. Seeing me, Michelle smiled warmly and extended her right hand. I did the same; and, as we shook hands I said brightly, "Hi, Michelle! I'm Rick In San Jose!"

And with that, on the morning of April 20, 2014, I awoke from this dream. I only wish my dream could have lasted a moment or two longer, as I would have very much liked to see how my first meeting with Michelle went.

p.s.: I have no idea who Melissa Nyegoode is, either!

I honestly have that same thought!! For me, it would be a dream come true.

Thanks, Rick. I loved the story and can easily relate to it.

My traveling days -- such as they were -- are over, so I will never meet Michelle. Still, at least I can "meet" her in my dreams occasionally, which is something.

I do hope that you will get to meet Michelle sometime, because such a wonderful and loyal fan as you certainly deserves to have that dream come true!
