128 for Carolina! She's got it.

Wow! Good for Carolina!!! She should retire now and go out on top.
Great job for Carolina! Now Go Akiko!!
Akiko pretty good. Looked a little messy to me at the end. Carolina definitely still 1st.
Akiko has a great smile and joy in her skating.

One popped jump for Akiko...UGH, I love her so much, but I want her and Ashley BOTH on the podium! I'm about to be disappointed no matter what.![]()
Yeah I was hoping Ashley could hang on for a medal but it's not gonna happen.
3rd place for Akiko! YAY! But no medal for Ashley.![]()
As I type this Ksenia no surprise is bombing so it's safe to congrats to Carolina on her first World Title and to Akiko for her first World Medal! And not too shabby 4th for Ashley, great job, just short of the podium!

Ksenia and her weird Marilyn Monroe program...one very nasty fall already.
Great job by Akiko!
Time for a coaching change for Ksenia. Too much talent being wasted.
If they still give out the "little medals" for each section of the competition, then Ashley should get the bronze little medal for finishing third in the free skate. Bet you she wishes she hadn't two footed that jump!
Good for her !

At least Ashley will get a mini bronze medal for placing 3rd in the FS!![]()
90 for Ksenia. 9th place.
Congrats to Carolina, Alena, and AKIKO!
And congrats to Ashley for finishing better than any other US lady in five years. (Kimmie finished 4th in 2007.)
Ashley has proved to be a major fighter. I only wish it could rub off on Adam.
She was under so much pressure and she pulled through. Good for her.
Congrats to all the medalists.

Is Alissa's 5 point deduction a world's record? Something is very wrong here but we may never know what. How can such an implosion be explained. I know mao is grieving her mother's death, but I wonder if her "golden" years are behind her. Why is ashley still double footing jumps. That has always been one of her biggest problems and Nicks is not the coach to fix that. This is one year I really have no desire to search for vids and watch again.
It was so painful being in the arena watching Alissa fall repeatedly. The audience did appreciate her beautiful spins and spirals. Ashley saved the US's reputation. I took pictures of members of the French skating federation and other dignitaries who were seated below us giving Ashley a standing ovation.

I've been watching youtubes of performances. I don't even want to watch Alissa's. Feel so bad for her. Glad that Carolina was able to have an almost perfect free skate and get a World title. Awesome that Ashley fought in the FS and came back to 4th. Good for her.

Congrats to Carolina, Alena and Akiko.
My feed froze before Alissa skated so thank goodness I did not have to witness her meltdown.
Can't wait to see videos of Caro and Akiko heard they skated beautifully. Ashley was so close to a medal but it was not to be.
I hope that Mao takes some time off after what she has been through. I bet we see a much improved Mao
next season. She is such a lovely skater.

This is one time I'm actually glad that Carolina is consistently overmarked. Way to go, Ashley, for fighting back.

Alissa -- DAAAAMN! Did someone tell her that since Worlds was in France, she had to outdo Laetitia Hubert's 1992 long program? When I heard that she fell twice in the short and 5 times in the long, I thought it was an early April Fool's joke. I hope it's because she broke her leg on her way to France or something. Somewhere, Rachael Flatt is saying "okay, everyone can get off my back now". Poor Alissa.
After watching Ashley's program, I was so happy to see her skate well, and I really think she did a great job with her Black Swan program. I had never really rooted for her in the past, but her program grew on me as the season progressed, and it was great to see her skate with command over the ice. Job well done!!
And I never thought I would be rooting for Carolina, but in the past few seasons she seems to have become a more complete skater. I really don't care if she has the triple lutz in her arsenal. As I very much know from my own on-ice experiences, CoP rewards not all the big huge tricks (specifically, trying big tricks a skater isn't capabale of doing well), but moreso for elements that have good quality. Carolina might not have had the lutz, but what she did have was great speed, flow, and really good presentation. I have loved this program each time she skated it this season. The music, the unitard, that first triple loop and flip, and the footwork at the end. This year was really the complete package for her, and I'm happy to see her as World Champion.
