Although it is not over yet, I hate to see these two skaters go into Worlds with a less than stellar showing at this B event. Bad decision on part of USFSA to send them IMHO.

Well the FS is still to come. GO Alissa and Jeremy!

Florent has officially withdrawn due to a groin injury sustained in practice this morning.

Did Brian win? I saw his performance. He had a quad in the beginning of the program, but it was not perfect. He also brought back his "Matrix" program. Jeremy's performance was not great in terms of jumping, but everything in between was superior to anything else in the men's competition at this event. Anyways, I hope the results come in soon.

PS. I think it is actually a great thing that Jeremy did not peak at this competition. I would rather see him skate his best at the World Championships. I am a huge supporter of Alissa and Jeremy (and Adam). You all probably know why.

The ladies take the ice this evening? If so, I hope Alissa can win here. It would be a great confidence boost to beat the " #1" skater in the world currently. xD

Weird that Jeremy isn't skating so hot but better to work out those kinks now rather than worlds.

Alissa won the bronze. She was 40 points below Kostner and 20 points behind the other Italian skater, whom I have never seen.

Brian won. Still since no one considers him in the mix for a medal at worlds, this does not bode well.

I hope Jeremy works out ALL his kinks at this event too, but who knows.

This trip and travelling back to Detroit and then back to Worlds is, I fear, not going to leave either skater in top form.

I had such high hopes for Alissa this year with her win at Skate America which debuted her attempt at triple lutz/triple toe which I thought would have gotten better, but then they decided to chuck it. Her injury at GPF was understandable for her poor showing; I got hopeful again after her silver at Nats. I'm sure she was disappointed at being passed over for 4C's but I fear this back and forth to Europe within 3 weeks probably isn't a good idea. What did this accomplish except to see that Carolina is probably the odds on favorite for Worlds? I've never been a big fan of Carolina's but she has grown on me last year and this...her skating isn't as frenetic with skaky landings..of course she still doesn't do the lutz, but I see in the protocols that she did do 2 flips...which is better than last year. Here's hoping Alissa peaks at Worlds and shows all of us. I'm sure Mao and Ashley will have something to say about it too.

Yeah, I didn't realize that both Jeremy and Alissa would have to do some much traveling back and forth and not have a lot of time to train out the kinks. Yikes.

Yet both Jeremy and Alissa are fighters, I wish them both well at Worlds. Should be a nail bitter.

Anyone else notice that the jump layout in Alissa's program is different from the one that she performed at GP Series/US Nationals? I hope her coaches are not trying to make the program more difficult than it already is. My understanding is that they want to put the double axel combination with a triple toe in the beginning...but I prefer the layout she had at Trophee Eric Bompard. But I agree with MKPerfect6.0, Alissa and Jeremy are fighters, and I am sure they will come back strong. As an optimist, I hope that by not winning here, they will be even more driven at the World Championships. Like debbwin, Carolina's skating has grown on me since last season, despite not having a triple lutz. The World Championships should be an exciting one. Sadly... I believe that this wil be the last time for Carolina and Alissa to win/medal at the World Championships. The girls coming up are quite strong. Though I could always be wrong. xD

I still do not understand why USFSA sent Jeremy and Alissa to this comp with such short turnaround time before Worlds. That is a lot of travel and cuts their training time for Worlds. Not to mention it may have tanked confidence for both going into Worlds.

I don't understand why skaters not on the World team weren't sent here. Perhaps Agnes or Caroline for the ladies and Ross or Armin for the men.

From interviews it seemed like coming to Challenge Cup was Jeremy's and Alissa's own decision, they wanted another competition before Worlds and it didn't sound like the USFSA pushed for it.

Eeek...Alissa's skate. Is she injured again, or what?

I watched Alissa's skate, it was not good. I hope everything is alright with her. I know I read somewhere a few months ago in an interview with Alissa and she
revealed that her twin sister had been seriously ill but was recovering.

I am hoping CC was just a fluke skate and she will come out fighting at Worlds.

I can admire Alissa for her character, for her beauty, and for her musicality - the fact is, she is not a strong skater - determined, yes - lovely, obviously, flexible, ooh-lala BUT - but she lacks strength, balance, centering, quick synapse - the natural ATHLETIC gifts that make skaters great. There is a whole flock of athletically gifted skaters coming up the pike. Those who also have the gifts of musicality and artistry will be the next great champions. Maybe Gracie Gold - but she will be challenged internationally for years - the talent in Russia is astonishing. I love it when the US has truly gifted athletes in skating (or any sport, for that matter), but we just haven't had world caliber, strong, flexible, fast, fearless, dependable gifted skaters for a few rounds (except in dance). Frankly, I can't bear to watch Alissa again. She is sooooo up and down. And with the Olympics coming, the US can't afford to hold a place for a beautiful, nice, hard working, been around forever athlete. The US needs to fill those places with hungry, gifted, reliable athletes who jump high, don't fall, and send off sparks.

Berthe, I have heard of Valentina, but I honestly don't ever remember seeing her skate and that might be because until recently my viewing has been restricted to whatever ABC/NBC has shown.
