Results of the Short program. Javier was divine, Dai was fabulous loved his program, and Adam was Kwanderful. Patrick was off tonight on his jumps but still managed to
skate well enough to place 3rd int he SP. Very good skating from the men.

I hate to say this, but today I enjoyed the men's short programs more than the ladies. I agree with you kittyjake5. I really enjoyed Javier's program. I loved his choice of music. It was fun, and very engaging. I felt it was more of a "dance" than a "skate" (which is a good thing). Dai, injured? I did not see any sign of injury in his short program. It was great. And Adam, I love the new entrance to his triple axel, a little slow yes, but that will come. He looked very good and happy out there. Hope he skates great and gets on the podium. As for Patrick, he was not on (with his jumps tonight). He fell out of his quad and doubled the triple axel, I believe! Personally, I would have put him beind Adam, but maybe I am just being biased. Anyways, it should be a great competition!

Loved Adam's sp, so did the folks in the arena. Dai Rached it and Javier was terrific. Patrick was off, butt was marked generously.

    Did Adam do the quad?
Sorry, just got home, trying to catch up.

No he did not. He did the triple lutz, triple axel and the triple flip-triple toe! He will probably go for the quad in the long program!

The Tano lutz that is! Unfortunately, the triple toe was downgraded on his combo.

I thought Chan deserved to win, but that score was inflated. Dai and Adam did pretty good.

Was anyone else super annoyed by Peter C's commentary? He was downright vicious about some of the skaters, and didn't even try to hide his bias for others. And yeah, that spin he hates is pretty crappy, but give it a rest! DANG.

I loved Javier Fernandez. What a great competition for him. Is he the first skater from Spain to win a medal on the senior level? His quad salchow was awesome.

The men's competition was very entertaining. Seeing Adam's attempt at the quad lutz was exciting to see. I think he made a smart move by going to Jason and Yuka. I love his triple lutz with both arms over his head.

I'm sorry, but I cannot stand to listen to Peter Carruthers. The way he went on and on and on about the greatness of Patrick Chan made me gag. I know that a lot of people like Chan alot, but I just can't get into him and to listen to Peter Carruthers rant on about him just irritated me. Also, it seemed that he was always trying to talk down to Terry Gannon.

What is surprising to me is that back in the days of MK competing, these GP threads would be pages long for all disciplines. How odd and sad to see that these competitions garner so little attention anymore.

So Adam was fourth, against some pretty heavy hitters, good for him.
I think it is good he doesn't peek too soon, he now has something to work on from this program. Good for him for going for the quad.

    .
Every time I'm tempted to like Chan, I see another quote from him that makes me want to slap him. This week it was after the short when he declared that winning worlds means he has room (presumably with the judges) for mistakes. I so wish Dai would have skated lights out and beat him.

Rachael was a mess. I had read an ESPN article yesterday where the reporter characterized her as "frazzled" and she declared herself "really tired". I think classes and homework and socializing and training and living in the dorms and doing a show two weeks ago and going to football games and and and .......it's not going to work no matter how organized she claims to be. I wonder what she will choose to do.

Chan could have fallen 8 times and still would have won. Not a fan. I do agree he has some major skills, but comes off rather cocky.

You might as well go ahead and copy and save this sentence, as I feel you'll be needing to paste and repeat it an awful lot in the next few years.

In this video of Adam's LP at 1:50 - 2:46 that footwork, that is what makes me an Adam fan. It is exquisite.
