But I can't place ALL the blame of this on Plushenko. He's being heavily backed by his nation even his president. So he's definitley being fueled heavily to behave in this manner.

Im not worried about it though..just a bunch of hot air! (oh, and the prime misisters name IS putin! so...yeah...lame hot air pun.).

How come the IOC isn't shutting him up? Usain Bolt got a stern "talking" to from the Pres of IOC.... This is soo double standard.

Oh gaw Plushenko is just making himself look dumb. He needs to get over the fact that Lysacek won and he took silver.

Plush really needs to get counseling or an ect to make him forget that he even competed.

Watching Plushy during his free skate, I kept thinking, "You preening b*****d!" Little did I think that he would live up to that epithet time and again over the next few days. I wonder if one day he will feel the need to apologize to Evan for his ugly behavior...

The funny thing is, if anyone has the right to complain and moan it's Johnny. He was the one so obviously misjudged. But dang our U S men and all their class and tact.

Not to stick up for the jerk, but didn't me make mention of the platinum medal in an interview? I thought he said it was his wife that pointed out that silver medals are actually made out of platinum and he got a grin on his face. It seems they have taken it from there and run with it.

I do agree, with Suzibear that he needs to be stripped of his medal. Enough is enough. However, I doubt anything will be done because of Soshi and the 2014 Olympics. I think we have a lot of unfair judging in front of us and can see problems in the future, with other sports as well.

I think Evgeny really needs to save face asap otherwise whatever legacy he created with his skating for his name, for his own future, will be destroyed forever. Even if he wasn't behind putting up that platinum medal at Vancouver thing on his website, the way he has spoken about the results of the event are not only disrespectful to Evan Lysacek, but they are also disrespectful to all of his competitors, the judges and the Olympic Games themselves.

Evgeny gained my respect when I saw him in practice at the 2003/04 GPF and I saw what a hard worker he is, but this recent stuff... ohmygosh.

He should realize what an accomplishment a silver medal win is at an Olympics after nearly four years away from competing in the sport.

    Zhang/Zhang - 2006 Olympic Silver Medalists
    Zhang/Zhang - 2010 Olympics, 5th place

Stephane Lambiel - 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist
    Stephane Lambiel - 2010 Olympics, 4th place

    Belbin/Agosto - 2006 Olympic Silver Medalists
    Belbin/Agosto - 2010 Olympics, 4th place

Of the returning 2006 Olympic medalists failed to make the podium this time around, save for Shen/Zhao who won gold, and Evgeny who won silver, so looking at that he's done a great job finding a way to keep his skating up to par with skaters who have stayed in the game over the past four years, and even though his placement can be argued among fans and skating experts, his silver medal win here in Vancouver is quite an accomplishment. He has nothing to be disgruntled with and I'm sad to see that he can't walk away from this competition with a sense of pride in what he's done this season.

    Not to mention:
Sasha Cohen - 2006 Olympic Silver Medalist
Sasha Cohen - 2010 U.S. Nationals, 4th place, no Olympics

It's hard to even medal at a back-to-back Olympics, much less at 3, which I believe no American has ever done.

    Wow, that's just....really interesting!

I'm glad to see the public is starting to catch on that his Ripping on Evan doesn't even make sense. Like seriously....does he think we should give out medals after the quad is completed. No need to give points for execution of the other jumps?

Aside from this article, Still really annoys me that any journalist is taking Plushy seriously

See you 2014! Jsut have lots of fun Plushy and stop thinking about the Gold and skate from your heart. You'll find a way.
I don't know if your being serious or making fun but I hope you are serious. I don't want him to come back in 2014 because he will be 31 and also because the judges obviously are not rewarding quads like they use to. What's the point? He is already a Olympic Gold winner just like the rest of the OGM winners so I'm happy with that. He can be too so there is no need to win another. Mostly I would not want him to come back and lose and read the crowing hatred on the boards again. It was just as bad as his attiude IMO.

    I know!

Step 1. Rehab (for Sex/Alcohol/Drug Addiction, doesn't matter). The term "12-Step Program" should figure prominently in any news stories about this.

Step 2. Member of his family is hospitalized for stress (photo of family member being wheeled on gurney by paramedics, to engender sympathy for him).

Step 3. Contrite contrived self-deprecating public apology, the more humiliating and the more alligator tears, the better. (Best if wife & kids are shown by his side, looking at him approvingly.)

Step 3A. Congratulatory statement from the heart that Evan did a fabulous job and deserved to win the Gold (statement to be delivered at same time as contrite contrived self-deprecating public apology).

These steps, and perhaps an optional one in which he throws his support behind a popular charitable cause, should get him back in the skating consumer's good graces.

ETA: Given his behavior, he might well be a big hit in skating shows in Iran. I hear the big skating tour there, Stars On Sand (aka, SOS), is doing quite well these days.

If he plans to earn big money skating in U.S. shows, I think he's pretty much blown it by now.

I'm enjoying the drama though because he can't change the result. In his mind, he lost the gold instead of winning the silver and therefore he sees himself as a loser.

He entertaining but harmless at this point.

    Kudos to Evan.

What "big money" in US shows? There isn't as much now as there used to be. Does anyone know, BTW, how Plush's comments are being taken in Japan, or other countries where skating shows are doing better than they are here?

My understanding is that a Russian interviewer "awarded" him the platinum, not that it was his idea. And I don't know if he controls his website directly; let's remember that his people might have done it and he might have told them to take it off.

I agree that I can't understand his point of view about all this -- I mean, it comes down to math, for heaven's sake. But he has a right to say what he likes, just as skating fans have a right to dislike him based on his comments. And I doubt he cares about his popularity in the US! Probably it's just as financially strategic for him to play up the wuzrobbed angle in Russia. Johnny may be heroically and admirably silent, but you'll notice the media has forgotten about him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty much with all of you on this. But to me it's more of a sigh and shrug.

Now ros- be careful how you talk about the "devil" Seriously- if the next Olys are in Russia (I read they are?) I have a feeling this whole thing is going to be resolved Russian style.

I was going to mention that one, but since she isn't skating at the Vancouver Olympics... *g* I couldn't bring myself to bring up that comparison.
