question: did anyone get a wrong edge call last night?

cause if no one did it's not as big of a deal to me i guess...but the universal sports coverage slow motioned sasha's "lutz"....and it was clearly a flutz...all of the commentators agreed.

i really wish they would call her on it! esp. if they are gonna call it on others...but if they didn't call any wrong edges for anyone...who cares i guess

And we *love* you, GinnySmith! You and I go back a long way and were at some of these events in person. And we saw "it happen" during the practice in L.A. and all that. So yeah, loved your post and I'm glad you're here.

    Bebe got an edge call...

And everyone who has subscribed to my YouTube account for these Nationals. I will only be uploading the top 11 in the SP due to my computer being slow...

Mirai received an ! (warning, not a call).

Six ladies did receive edge calls:
Bebe, Caroline, Gong, Diggs and the gals in 19 and 21stish place whose last names begin with K. Sorry, didn't write those two down, and my memory leaked while I was switching out pages.

Michelle was 19 years old when the calls started for her to step aside and make room for the younger skaters and "give them a chance". In addition, many were not supportive of Michelle's bid for the "by" to the 2006 Olympics and some people were down right nasty about it, even though Michelle competed in the 2005 Worlds and help secure Oly 3 slots.

Sasha on the other hand is being treated like skating royalty. I have yet to read or hear any objections over her waltzing in after contributing absolutely nothing to US Figure Skating over the last 4 years, while all of the other ladies have skated their hearts out and skated well enough to hang onto 2 slots for the 2010 Olympics. Had Sasha competed at Worlds last year, we would probably have 3 slots. So now she gets to show up and snatch one of the 2 coveted spots from the other ladies with nary an objection from the press? Give me a freakin' break!

So I am here to do what the media isn't doing to Sasha that they did to Michelle in 2006: Giving Sasha a hard time for potentially taking a slot away from a lady (whoever is 3rd) who has been on the scene and working hard and showing up to key events.

Believe me, if Michelle had decided to compete, while some would have been supportive, there would have been at least one article ripping her to pieces for all of the things I mentioned above about Sasha. I have my suspicions as to why this double standard exists. Perhaps one day I will voice it in the Political Section because it is way too controversial to voice here.

As for me, but I just can't stand to watch and I'm not. The most I can stomach is to read reports here because they are fun and entertaining. For me, a Nationals with Sasha/Tara in the spotlight is my worst nightmare and there isn't enough syrup of ipecac to make me hurl as much as I would need to hurl. If I sound bitter, I am. Michelle never got the complete respect she deserved and as far as I am concerned, these 2 are getting respect they don't deserve.

    End of Rant!
    Greetings everyone;

It is a pleasure to be back to participate and be among great Figure Skating fans/experts. And especially fans that know a true ICON in the sport of figure skating our Michelle Kwan.

I go waaaaay back to when Heather was ahead of her time and created this wonderful forum. I would like to take time to say hello to a few of posters that I remember and enjoyed sharing our love and frustrations during those difficult times in 1998

** Kwanette, you are still a hoot, LOL I love your passion!!!
** Gman, I always enjoyed your commentary and knowledge about the sport and sharing your own skating experiences.
** GinnySmith, of course I love your commentary, and agree completely with your latest post.
** Probativev (Alexa) Nice to see you are still around and enjoy your commentary too. Hmmm, I see you are also political (love, love politics)
** iLoveskating, Love your commentary too.
** Issys, you have been around a long time too -- love your commentary.

There are many more, however, just named a few. My former screen name was JDWall and I'm a Ms. Jeremy.

When I need a figure skating fix, I always come to MKF. Thanks again for all your longevity.

    Ms. Jeremy (more to come)

Bebe's one of. the few people with a true lutz..her technique is fabo..

I watched last night on IN, but rewatched Mirai and Sasha on NBC.com/Oly..Sasha's lutz and the flipshould have been dinged..pointed out by Scott..

Meanwhile, I've watched Mirai's sp...4 times..Am I the only one Lady Gaga over this performance?

Also, check her interview on IN with peter Carruthers..She commented on the "magic of Mr. Carroll"...and I love her relationship with Evan!

No, you're not the only one, kwanette. After her short, I finally jumped on Mirai's bandwagon with both feet. Frank is wonderful for her. I hope she does well tomorrow nite. I would be happy with Mirai & Rachel in Vancouver.

In about 20 minutes, Rachael's SP should be uploaded to YouTube. If you haven't already, subscribe to my YouTube Channel. I will feature the top 11 short programs and possibly (if I finish my school work in the morning) the top 11 (the least) of the free skates.

Kwanette all you have to do is read my posts to know how I feel about Mira's SP. She has a lot of talent and skated beautifully last night. Mira's SP performance last night is right up there with YuNa's she just needs to throw in a 3-3, there I said it.

Aww, how sweet. I love Frank also, and sign me up in the Lady Gaga over Mirai's SP club. My favorite of the night and tied for favorite SP of the season thus far.

    Default Universal Sports programming change!

The online TV guide says "skiing" but they are replaying the Ladies Short program right now. Emily is about to skate.

Hey Ginny, you forgot to add Sarah to the Sasha/Tara factor. HOF, you know. Most of left at intermission when it was time for that. She was further hailed today when giving the Jr Ladies their medal.

Definitely not. I actually applauded when it was done. I'm not happy with her skate order in the long, though. I hope she is able to handle going last.

The US judges and tech callers aren't doing Sasha any favors by not call her flutz and lip--the Oly judges might not be so generous.

I was thinking the same thing, Heather. Hopefully, Frank can keep her calm and collect. She looked good in today's practice session they streamed live at KHQ.

    Default In the minority...

I just saw Sasha's skate (so I'm a little behind!) - and while I agree with many of you about the inconsistent treatment Sasha's getting vs. the treatment Michelle had gotten in the past - I have to admit, I was a bit impressed with her program. Maybe it is because I just had expected her to implode, or maybe even withdraw, but I enjoyed seeing her skate.

I'm not one to post often (in fact I haven't checked in in many years because I really started hating the sport with the crazy scoring system they put in) but, it's an olympic year - so, how can I not watch? I immediately came back to this forum because no other forum has as many knowledgable fans! I'm so glad this forum is just as lively as I remember!

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi ... off to root for Mirai, Rachael, and Caroline - they're my current favorites (you have to cheer for someone while Michelle's not there!! ) I hope they all do awesome tomorrow night!
