Thumbsdown Westboro Baptist Church Goes After Obama Girls

Westboro Baptist Church Protests Outside Obama Girls' School
Westboro Baptist Church, a hate group that travels around the country holding anti-gay rallies, protested outside the school attended by President Obama's children on Monday morning.

The "church," run by Fred Phelps and composed largely of his extensive family, is known for staging its events for maximum publicity and controversy. In the past, members have demonstrated outside troops' funerals. Recently they have been targeting Jewish temples. Now they're aiming their vitriol at Washington-area schools -- including Sidwell Friends, where Malia and Sasha Obama are students.

A message on Westboro's website refers to the Obama children as "satanic spawn" of a "murderous *******."
Malia attends the Washington, D.C. Sidwell middle school, where the Phelps family protested Monday; they plan to protest Tuesday at the Bethesda location, where Sasha is a student.
I love how the woman in the picture is disguising herself by wearing sunglasses and a hood around her face and holding up that big *ss sign. Yeah, if I was publicly attacking two innocent little girls, I'd try to hide who I was too.

Amazing how this one nation can produce both a gem of a human being like Michelle Kwan and a "Meat-in-an-Idiot-Sandwich" woman like the above. A more extreme contrast there could not be.

I only hope there was a Secret Service presence at the school.

Sidwell Friends deals with dark side of limelight
Its parent-teacher conferences made the evening news. So did cases of swine flu. And Sidwell Friends School has recently been the target of a few small protests that seem aimed at prominent parents, not students.

The school, long a favorite of Washington's leading families, is no stranger to presidential children. But in the months since Barack and Michelle Obama decided to send their daughters there, Sidwell has been pulled into the spotlight of a distinctly 21st-century culture -- one that is increasingly celebrity-obsessed and often shockingly unmannered.

Educators and others at Sidwell have portrayed this as what their most famous parent might call a "teachable moment."

When five anti-Obama, anti-gay protesters appeared in front of the school's Wisconsin Avenue NW entrance Monday morning, they were met by 150 Sidwell students waving signs ranging from "There is that of God in Everyone" to "I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It."

"I guess they think they can influence what we think because we're young and vulnerable," said Daniel Edminster, a Sidwell junior. "They can't."

San Francisco’s Answer to Westboro Baptist Church
Westboro Baptist Church showed up to protest in front of Twitter’s San Francisco office on Thursday, but found themselves severely outnumbered by a crowd of absurdist pranksters, including guest blogger EDW Lynch above.

To be honest, I usually find Phelps and his crazy family quite humerous! Through the years, his blatant bigotry has really helped LGBT rights in this country, and at one point even had Fox News talking about how crazy and hateful they are to LGBT people. But this, along with protesting funerals, just goes to far. It's truly sickening.

I do love watching the demise of his "church"......I hate calling it a church, as it has absolutely nothing Christlike about it......his whole "church" consists of family members only.....many of whom were lawyers, ALL have been disbarred. They have MASSIVE amounts of lawsuits piling up, and still owe several million dollars to a family that they picketed during their sons funeral.

I'm normally a rational, nice person. But when Fred Phelps passes away, I'll smile.

    Default When Fred Phelps croaks...

...I doubt if even Satan will have him. I, on the other hand, will dance my happy dance and will not be ashamed at all. Ding dong the *** is dead! Oh, how I welcome that day!

"God hates Phelps!" Yeah, I like it! I'm already planning what to wear. My collection of AIDS ribbons would be a good start.

Remember those 5 Amish schoolgirls who were killed by that crazed gunman? Shirley Phelps-Roper origionally wanted to picket their funeral, but called it off when a radio station said he would instead grant them an interview. On the Fox show with Sean Hannity, Shirley actually said (catch this on YouTube) that the girls deserved to die! This is beyond sick.

O'Reilly Pays Legal Bill for Fallen Marine's Father

Long story short, a Marine was killed in Iraq, the WBC picketed his funeral, the Marine's father sued them for invasion of privacy and emotional distress and won, U.S. Court of Appeals overturned the verdict AND ordered the Marine's father to pay the WBC's legal bills.

Protesters From Kansas Take Aim at Miners
Protesters from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kan., headed to the Upper Big Branch mine Thursday morning to convey the message that the explosion there that left 25 miners dead was a result of e-mail messages allegedly sent from West Virginia threatening the Church and its publisher, according to a statement from the Church.
WBC is too extreme for the KKK
In the release, the KKK says: "The Ku Klux Klan LLC has not or EVER will have ANY connection with the Westboro Baptist Church. We absolutely repudiate their activities."
    Dear Vomit,

    You stink.

    Love, Sh*t

The article also says the KKK opposes gay marriage but supports civil unions.

I'm scared. Maybe the Mayans are right about 2012.
