Thread: Copyrights FAQ

    Default Copyrights FAQ

Some of you had your posts removed for this violation today. I'm posting this reminder again about Forum rule on copying published news or articles in your posts. As I have said in earlier moderator's post, any post that violates the forum copyrights rule will be removed without individual notices. Continual violators will receive warnings that may result in probation.

The following can be found in the FAQ:

    Copyrights

Do NOT post the text of an entire article on the forum. This is illegal and against copyright. This will be STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Instead, post a link to the article, or quote a few lines from the article and post that on the forum.

    Thank you.

PLEASE define 'few lines.' Do you look at the length of an original article before you decide the 'few lines' should be deleted? Do you arbitrarily decide that it is just too much? Also, do you apply this rule with everyone, or just posters you disagree with?
And what about articles that come from a secondary source, such as the Huffington Post, which copies articles ONTO their site from many sources? This really is not COPYRIGHT infringement even though you use it as such.
    Thank you for your answers.

On behalf of Alexa, I am going to inject. The copyright infringement issue/rule has always been the case not only for the political forum, but for the entire forum. I trust Alexa's judgement in deciding what is too much in relation to the size of the article. As for those who post the articles, I'll just say "less is better"
