(Yes, I know that the standards of actually proving libel/slander, and recovering damages, are different for public and private figures. But the basic right of challenge exists equally for all.)
Moxie, yes, they are free to bring suit against anyone telling falsehoods against themselves, but that is not the point. The point is he cannot take it. he is such a crybaby and a wimp. If he cannot stand this, he will not be able to handle something much worse from far more important or powerful people. He is indeed NOT ready to be the leader of the free world. God forbid he get elected. America needs someone with a spine who can stand up to criticisms and defend himself and his decisions, not someone who is a crybaby and trys to shut them down because he doesn't like what their saying. He is a wuss. he's trying to silence freedom of speech it's something against him. If it's something he puts out, whether true or not, it's suddenly OK. he needsto quit flipflopping on the issues and shut up and just campaign. he is disgusting with his speeches. He is indeed not worthy of holding such a high office.

So, you are saying that a person who sues to stop a falsehood is a crybaby?
He/she should just accept the lies and take no action?

no moxie, good grief, do you not get it??? Obama cries fiul at EVERY bad thing said about him. He has on several occasions tried to pull ads and threatened to sue for negative publicity, even when said publicity is correct. he goes overboard and cannot take it. He needs to wise up
I have just heard on the news that he is going to try and make MCCain lose his temper, so he can win points and grab an edge during the debate. He cannot debate or give a speech without a teleprompter, so he will resort to making his opponent angry, hoping to take the spotlight off himself and his failed policies and his lack of plans that will work for the country if God forbid he gets elected. GOD HELP US.

Yes, I do. What you are saying is that if McCain (and/or Palin) ever threatens to sue over a false ad (and/or this week's Enquirer story that says it has proof that Palin had an affair in 1996), we should all just tell them to stop being crybabies.

Oh? Obama said this on a news show? Or was what you heard actually some sort of pre-debate prediction by a Fox analyst?

Huh? Teleprompters are never used in debates. As for making his opponent angry, it is up to McCain to keep his cool. If a little thing like a debate could cause him to lose his temper, that's something that the voters should know.

First, I heard it on the nat'l news. MCCain should not have to try to hold his temper, Obama should debate, answer questions truthfully and not resort to games to keep from answering debate questions.
BO always studders when he does not have his teleprompter. Recently, he was debating and did not have his teleprompter, and saying, ummm uh,. ummm uh, quite a bit. Rush Limbaugh played a recording recently that was 8 minutes in length of him studdering and saying ummm and uhhhh,. He was off his script.
Theres a lot more things the voters should know about HW than anything abut MCCain.

I just watched a you tube video that has made me sick to my stomach. It's about abortion and people who actually worked in abortion clinics or hospitals and what they saw. HW is beyond disgrace, there are no words to describe how low I think he is and I cannot fathom why anyone in their right mind could vote for him.

Eight straight minutes or creative editing of a bunch of speeches?
Either way, doesn't Rush have anything better to do with his air time?

I think it's from either a debate or speech, but it's very telling of how he cannot speak publicly w/o his friendly teleprompter or a script. He's not quick on his feet.

ruch has lots to do w/ his tinme, one of those things he does is bring HW hemming and hawing to the attention of his listeners. What difference does it make anyway, where they came from? They are there for all to hear and proof that he cannot speak on his own.

Well, for starters, presenting 8 minutes of spliced-together and/or duplicated "ums" as if they happened continuously in one speech is misleading. Make that deliberately dishonest.

I see BO's intention during debates is to be condescending, yell, and point his finger. He was extremely rude in interrupting McCain at several points of the debate. I am really tired of his obvious "I got this in the bag" attitude.

I'm sure others share this otherwise there would be a much wider margin in the polls for the anointed one.

And what about HW's bracelet gaffe?? He's all facade and the bracelet was another prop, like the Greek columns. Thus he couldn't remember the name on it because it was merely decorative for him.

HW is arrogant and condescending (not a newsflash I know). He called McCain "John" instead of "Senator McCain," and Bush "your President." HW evidently isn't a US citizen in his own mind, he's a Citizen of the World. The world can have him.

And the MSM run themselves ragged trying to makeover and sell HW as a JFK, Lincoln, and MLK successor. Don't think so. He's a petulant Man-child.

Since he mainstream media just let this obvious gaffe go unnoticed, again, it is the blogsphere that points it out:

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matthew...t-bracelet-too

The MSM can ignore this but those of us who watched the debate heard it and saw what he had to do. He had to pause and look at the bracelet to read the name on it and hesitated with some more "uhs".

Switching gears, the Govenor Of Missouri, Matt Blunt, responds to Obama's "truth squad":

    http://governor.mo.gov/cgi-bin/coran...&tmpl=newsitem

What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

    Default Henry Kissinger

Henry Kissinger did not waste any time refuting HW on his comments last night. Mr. Kissinger has come out and said BO has misstated his views on diplomacy and is not happy about it. He says Sen MCCain is RIGHT.Iwould NOT recommend the next President of the US engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirley comptible with the views of my friend Sen. MCCain.
He also says, we do not always agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with iran must be geared to "REALITY".
    www.weeklystandard.com

It sure is not geared towards reality with BO. His version of reality is a far cry from reality.

This is a funny picture I found, Bo gets to sit at the grownup's table.

The Missouri Gov has released a statement regarding HW's campaign of abusive use of MO's law enforcement.

    Rebuttals to BO Truth Sqauds:

    http://stlcofcc.wordpress.com/2008/0...icizing-obama/

If a prosecutorial authority brings criminal libel charges against a defendant on behalf of a plaintiff, as McCulloch and Joyce are threatening to do, then the prosecutor has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt to twelve out of twelve jurors that the defendant knowingly said or wrote something factually incorrect about the defendant.
As for “factual,” it means that the statement made cannot relate to an opinion.
This is a relief. In other words, if someone states that in his/her opinion that BO is a lying empty suit moron, he/she cannot be sued.

However, in the opinion of this writer, Bob McCulloch and Jennifer Joyce are, at the behest of the Obama campaign, ratting sabers to intimidate people from criticizing Obama. If my contention is correct, then if anyone will face civil or maybe criminal liability from the U.S. Justice Department, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in St. Louis, it’s McCulloch and Joyce themselves. It is not beyond the realm of possibility, in my opinion, that their threats violated Federal Civil Rights laws, two public authorities might well be forcing a “chilling effect” on 1st Amendent free speech. If Barack Obama or any of his people have any fingerprints on this, they could be sent up the river as well.
    http://www.newsmax.com/politics/Obam...27/135118.html

The NRA charged that "Obama and the DNC have been using strong-arm tactics reminiscent of Chicago machine politics to try and cover up the truth and silence NRA by forcing the stations to assist them in hiding Obama's radical anti-gun record."
NRA stands behind the accuracy of these ads, and NRA attorneys have responded to the Obama campaign's despicable and abusive attempt to trample on the First Amendment by sending a thorough rebuttal to station managers. This rebuttal clearly and conclusively refutes the Obama campaign's fallacious claims that the ads are inaccurate.

The NRA has set up a web site detailing its position on Obama at www.gunbanobama.com.
You know, I was leaning towards voting for a 3rd Party candidate for POTUS and then a straight Democratic ticket. But now, knowing that the Democratic party that I used to know is MIA and with this attack on free speech, I am more inclined to vote for McCain and a straight Republican ticket just out of spite.

I own my vote, so does every eligible voter and the Democrats have lost sight of that.

Last but not least, Henry Kissinger to Obama: YOU WERE WRONG!!!

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/...iref=hpmostpop

"Sen. McCain is right. I would not recommend the next president of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the presidential level," Kissinger said in the statement.

"My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Sen. John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality."

HW and his brainwashed minions are scaring me more and more each day. Ultra-liberals in policy, fascists in practice. HW apparently wants to turn the police into the KGB. Communism here we come. Thomas Jefferson must be rolling over in his grave about what's happened to his party. JFK too. Bill Clinton is of course still alive and distancing himself from the current crop of Democratic party leaders. He knows they're wacko extremists.

African-Americans thought he had no chance—then they started to believe. Now they fear defeat.

Well here we go....I always thought republicans were suppose to be using the "fear" tactics but I guess now the MSM and dems will be using it to try and get their man in. Sorry but I am voting for the qualified person and as a minority person I will not vote for someone simply because they look like me.

I was watching CNN last night and there were two radio talk show hosts discussing the debate and I thought the BO supporter's head was going to start spinning and pop off the way she was so angry that anyone would criticize BO. Some BO supporters really feel he is "entitled" to the highest office in the land.

Progress on the economic bailout package has been dragging thanks to the Democrats trying to slip in billions of dollars for the corrupt ACORN organization. There is a lot of history on group. The link is to a personal opinion blog not endorsed by the paper. But it cites facts and quotes about the corruption from the Wall Street Journal:

    http://blogs.chron.com/texassparkle/...omination.html

"Acorn, one of America's most militant left-wing 'community activist groups,' is spending $16 million this year to register Democrats to vote in November. In the past several years, Acorn's voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri and Washington, while several of their employees have been convicted of voter fraud..." -Wall Street Journal
