Seems Obama isn't telling the whole truth.

At least that's what the mods have said.

If you want to have my posts limited to my own thread (thanks for allowing me to have that one), maybe you should take it up with them.

And I never said I looked down on people whi don't have a Harvard degree. I said that, for me, Obama's accomplishments at Harvard Law were a plus. If you & others on this board have different opinions on what you look for as to a president's background, that of course is your right.

In 1960 I cast my first presidential ballot for JFK. BO is absolutely NOTHING like him! I consider myself a Reagan democrat and shared his thinking on what happened to the party: "I didn't leave the democratic party, it left me." R. Reagan.

I need only one, well maybe two, reasons not to vote for BO: William Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn. I remember when these two and their cohorts were terrorizing people and blowing up buildings. These guys were all children of wealthy families. On one occasion, two or three of these terrorists were assembling bombs in one of their homes in NY when they blew themselves up. Unfortunately, because of some technicality (and powerful family) the courts were unable to prosecute Ayers or his wife, although some of the Weathermen were convicted.

MOXIE: I gleaned this from a blog - Charles Manson was a community organizer, Ronald Reagan was a governor.

Ordered a new bumper sticker today. It has the Obama logo and reads "No thanks, I already have a Messiah"

Manson may have been a COMMUNE organizer, but there is no evidence that he ever did anything to help a COMMUNITY. He was a criminal from his youngest days.

As for Reagan, his push for government de-regulation (including of the financial sector) is one of the reasons we're in such an economic mess today.

And out comes the race card.

to Foxnews for posting this drivel:

Of course HW's problems are because the voters are racists. Nothing to with his arrogance, extremist cronies, lack of experience, etc.

    MKGrace,

You need to open your eyes and see the light.
Obama does not need experience - he has spent years networking. He just meets with a bunch of people - gets their notes -- and then picks a position -- if it is incorrect - he has tons more people to meet with -- and get their opinion.

Extremist cronies -- just because they want Sarah Palin to be gang banged - please lets not call that extremist. Because they call our America "GD America" - lets show compassion.

And his arrogance. Why shouldn't he be arrogant -- who else has been a potential nobody - never heard of - can't make a decision - and won the democratic nomination over someone with merit. Jeez - I would be arrogant too.

As for not getting votes because America is racist. Perhaps America is racist and Obama will win because of that. Are people voting for him because he is the best candidate or because it is a history making vote?

May I say that making history is not always a "great" thing. People all over television were saying how "historic" this week was as far as the economy.

    Moxie:

Excerpts from the New York Times article by Stephen Labaton on September 11, 2003, entitled "New Agency Proposed to Over see Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae" ( please note 2003 NOT 2008)

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant reoverhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago......... "These two entities--Fannie Mae and
Freddie Mac--ARE NOT FACING ANY KIND OF FINANCIAL CRISIS," said representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. "The more people EXAGGERATE (emphasis mine) these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

I also recommend that you read an article from the City Journal by Howard Husock, titled "The Trillion-Dollar Bank Shakedown That Bodes Ill for Cities: The Community Reinvestment Act funnels billions to left-wing activists, while threatening to destabilize lower-middle-class neighborhoods. Winter 2000. Will link to these articles. (takes me a little time). Obama would probably call me a senile old hag who can't Google.

The nine scariest words in the English language are: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Ronald Reagan
"Budrfliyes are qyoot," Haley, age 6
"Angels fly because they take themselves lightly." G.K. Chesterton

Is there some reason this Freddie Mac post was directed to me? I don't recall posting anything on this issue.

Moxie, in your previous post you referred to the economic crisis.

Freddie Mac is part of the economic mess we are in. The Bush administration attempted to do something about this in 2003. Even John McCain tried to address this in 2005. You can find the roots of the problem starting in the Carter administration.

Oh, I get it: The fact that Carter tried to end the practice of racially-based "redlining" 30 years ago is responsible for all the shady lending practices & cooked books that have led to today's economic messes?

Yes, some of the mortgage defaults have been by low-income folks who bought houses in poor neighborhoods without proper assets. But the vast majority (especially in Arizona and California) have been by middle-class suburban types who used equity leverage to "buy" houses they couldn't afford, borrowed against the houses to pay credit card bills (with interest rates that skyrocketed due to deregulation) & then wound up with 2nd & 3rd mortgages for far more than the houses were worth.

I fail to see how anything that Jimmy Carter did was responsible for today's banks giving "home equity loans" based on 120% of the house's value.

Three years ago, when I bought my home, I set a very specific price range based on what I could get based on a 10% deposit (actual cash, not "seller credits" and other "cooked books"). Even with that, the realtor kept trying to push me into houses that were way more expensive (he told me i could do creative financing with a "balloon" in five years). I switched realtors & bought my little house. And was amazed that within 2 weeks of closing (I'd barely moved in), my mailbox was flooded with offers to "tap into equity" & re-fi into a higher amount!!

Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae functioned for decades without problems.
And Jimmy Carter is not the cause of today's troubles.

All I know -- is that when Obama gets the call at 3:00 a.m. -- I want to know who is in his "five". The man will be phoning a friend, polling the audience, and taking 50/50. Hopefully he will have served long enough to be able to switch the question!

    Welcome to Iowa, Barack!

John McCain is not the only POTUS candidate that loses his cool from time to time. In this YouTube, Obama sounds bitter and appears to harboring some antipathy:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty6krf18huA

I kind of think yelling at an elderly woman while answering a question is not the way to win votes in the heartland. Somebody please get Obi his gun and bible to cling to before smoke starts coming out of his ears and his head explodes.

A temper you can count on and arrogance you can believe in!

I love this discussion on whites attitudes towards blacks may hurt Obama. I have one, blacks bitterness and hostility towards whites may hurt McCain! PS: I am a black woman before everyone tells me how I don't understand what it means to be black in America. However, I think it is just as racist to vote for Obama because I am excited about a black finally breaking through to the highest level as it is not to vote for him because you don't want a black. What MLK wanted was a society where we did NOT judge people based on their race but by the content of their character. Whether we have reached that place is not the point, but that to act in an ethical, non-prejudiced way would be to never vote or not vote for someone because of race. It seems they don't want to see all the blacks in the primary who supported BO because he was black and I live in a predominantly black community and know this to be true. That is racist. I am voting for what I think is best for my country not to make a social point. PPS: I know many are voting for OB because they feel he is the best and those are not the people I am referring to but the people who are voting for him because it is historic or because he is a minority.

    Don't come a knockin' if this thread's a rockin'....

Hey Free Republic lurkers (or whoever you are)--just an FYI, HW stands for "His Worshipfulness," one of our monikers for BO. Please note that MKF is NOT an official Michelle Kwan site or in any endorsed by her. We do not purport to know or represent her political views, whatever they may be.

Nobama thread friends--see Probative's MKF hacked thread if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Ok I don't know where this is all going and how you all want to organize things. This is the Nobama thread. I personally have no problem with Obama supporters coming in here to defend him, but if that's the case, then any McCain supporters and anti-Obama posters will also be allowed to go into anti-McCain threads and any potential anti-Palin threads to too to defend them too. So you guys can decide how you all want it, since there is no MKF rule about that.

I am going to stay primarily in the Hillary Supporters and Nobama threads and plan to make heavy use of the ignore feature.

Now, if I could just figure out a way to ignore quotes of the individuals that I am trying to ignore....
