Default Best Figure Skaters in History

All of these figure skaters were successful in their amateur career... you've seen them skate, now vote for your top 3 favorites. Let's see who turns out on top!

Don't know who they are? A brief description is about the skater(s) is written beside their name(s).

    • Michelle Kwan- 9 time U.S. Nationals Champion, 5 time World Champion, and 2 time Olympic medalist (silver and bronze). Known for her artistry, she holds a total of 57 perfect scores. Despite never winning the Olympic gold, she's widely thought of as one of the best figure skaters in history. Her trademark is the change-of-spiral sequence.
    • Torvill and Dean- This British ice dancing couple won Olympic gold in 1984 and also won 4 World Championships in a row (from 1981 to 1984). Together they hold 107 perfect marks. They're considered to be the best ice dancers in history, two skaters skating as ONE person. They have the honor of getting the first perfect score in figure skating (at the 1983 Worlds) and receiving the first and only perfect score at the Olympics (in 1984).
    • Sasha Cohen- Known for her perfect positions but also for her inconsistency, she won the silver medal in the 2006 Olympics.
    • Katarina Witt- Won Olympic gold twice in 1984 and 1988, 4 time World Champion, and 6 time European Champion.
    • Brian Boitano- 1988 Olympic gold medalist, 4 time U.S. Nationals Champion, and 2 time World Champion... he invented his Tano Triple Lutz. He's also the first American to land a triple axel. He's a commentator for figure skating.
    • Scott Hamilton- 1984 Olympic gold medalist, 4 time World Champion, 4 time U.S. Nationals Champion. He's a famous figure skater commentator and known for his originality during his amateur years.
    • Irina Slutskaya- Considered to be Russia's most successful female figure skater. 2 time Olympic medalist, 2 time World Champion, and 7 time European Champion.
    • Evgeny Plushenko- Won the silver medal in the 2002 Olympics and the gold in 2006... 3 time World Champion, 5 time European Champion, and 7 time Russian Nationals Champion. Part of the "Russian Quad Squad" at the 2002 Olympics.
    • Alexei Yagudin- 2002 Olympic champion, 4 time World Champion, and European Champion. Bitter rival of Plushenko and part of the "Russian Quad Squad" at the 2002 Olympics.
    • Midori Ito- First woman to land a triple axel, 1989 World Champion, and Olympic silver medalist.
    • Peggy Fleming- Olympic champion in 1968, 3 time World Champion, and 5 time U.S. Nationals Champion. She's a famous figure skater commentator.
    • Dorothy Hamill- 1976 Olympic champion, 3 time U.S. Nationals Champion, and also won the World Championships once. She invented the "Hamill camel."
    • Kristi Yamaguchi- 1992 Olympic champion, 2 time World Champion, and 4 time U.S. Nationals Championship medalist (3 silvers and one gold).
    • Dick Button- 2 time Olympic champion and the first to land a triple in the Olympics, 9 time U.S. Nationals Champion, 5 time World Champion, 3 time North American Champion, and also won the gold once in the European Championships (how did he get to do that?). He's a famous figure skater commentator.
    • Kurt Browning- 4 time World Champion and 4 time Canadian Nationals Champion. The only trophy he never won was an Olympic medal.
    • Shizuka Arakawa- She's the first Japanese skater to win the gold at the Olympics for figure skating... also won the 2004 World Championships. Known for her Ina Bauer move.
    • Yuka Sato- 2 time Japanese Champion and also won the World Championships once.
    • Oksana Baiul- She won the Olympics and World Championships once.
    • Victor Petrenko- Won the Olympics and World Championships once and is a 3 time European Champion.
    • Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov- 2 time Olympic Champions (in 1988 and 1994), 2 time Russian Champions, 3 time European Champions, and 4 time World Champions. They also did a quadruple twist lift in international competition. They later on married... Sergei died a few years after from a massive heart attack.

Of course, all of these skaters performed with passion and won the hearts of millions of people world wide. Now you know a little bit about them... VOTE!!!

Personally, I think Brian Orser should have been on the list! Two-time runner up in the 1984 & 1988 Olympics, World Champion in 1987, four-time World runner up, one-time World bronze medalist, and eight-time Canadian Champion. Along with this record, I've always admired his skating from tapes I used to watch. Love it!

But, of course, from the list I picked Michelle Kwan, Kristi Yamaguchi, and Kurt Browning.

This is difficult to pick only three.
For the first one, no problem : MK
    Then Browning and G&G

There should be three boxes for Michelle so that I could have voted for her three times.
