Thread: Michelle and my new ipod

Default Michelle and my new ipod

So my 4 GB ipod mini had an untimely death last week (fell into a sink full of water!), and I decided to splurge with some of my savings for a 30 GB ipod video. It didn't occur to me until a couple of hours after I bought it that I could (duh) put video on it, and I got so excited... "OMG I can take Michelle's performances with me wherever I go!!!" (my husband laughed, but he understands.)

So far I've only been able to convert my .wma files to .m4vs, so all I have right now of Michelle is 98 Lyra, 2005 YRMU, and 2005 Spartacus from Nats. All my other Michelle vids are in .rm or .ram format, and so far I haven't found freeware that's able to convert them to .m4v. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would be willing to buy software if I knew it converted with great quality.

Having my whole collection of Michelle performances on my ipod will make my upcoming airline flight GREAT! Why didn't I do this sooner?!

I don't (or rather can't because I use a Mac) use it so I can't really comment on the performance, but I have heard all about Super video converter being able to just that. You may want to check it out for yourself,

I wondered about that too. I wonder why most of the files are in Real Player format anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions! I wasn't able to get the posted converter to work, but I did figure out a way... it's time consuming, but I'm converting my Real files to Windows Media with one converter, and then the new Windows files to ipod-compatible ones with a different converter. There isn't much loss in quality at all (at least, not that can be obvious on a tiny screen) and I'm pretty happy with it. $39.95 well spent, in my opinion.

I have a 5 hour plane flight next week, and all my new skating vids will definitely help make the trip more bearable!

That's cool. I have a Ipod video myself, and most of the videos I get are from youtube and then convert from vixy net.. send me a pm, and I could give you the site. Well, i never used my ipod video yet, because this computer doesn't have internet and won't work with itunes....but I will be using it next year ~KJ

I can answer that, because when you convert a video to Real Player the quality of it goes lower. I remember when I wanted to download some Karen Kwan videos from fsvids, they were soo high, that my dial up computer wouldn't want to download the wmv files so someone converted it to real player and told me i'll covert it to real player then the quality is sorta lower but still good quality...so i got to watch karen....for half of the MBS..

Ah thanks for the explanation! That makes sense as to why almost all the skating vids are RealPlayer!
