I had to go back and read KingChez' post again. It is witty, searing and moving at the same time: You "met and gret" Dan Hollander - definitely not a typo, but a classic Chezzy witticism.
Your birthday sentiments to Michelle had me teary eyed.
But the one comment that touched home wasToo, too funny Sam.I really related to this because she sneered at me in COI when I congatulated her backstage.Irina S...what a charmer. I congratulated her on her performance in Italy; she sneeringly said "thanks". I said I have enjoyed her skating for many years; she said "thank you" and sneered down to another autograph. Perhaps Irina doesn't like American fans because they lie to her...but I digress.
Well done KingChez. LongLive KingChez.

If Miss Arakawa (?) was completely taken by this face, along with Miss Kwan on three different occasions, along with Sasha staring me up and down in Dallas in '03 and Jenny checking me out at a practice in Portland and even Sarah eyeballing me at a practice in Dallas... prudence saw Tanith looking at me on the arena concourse in Portland, I'm quite sure Irina would be quite content to join me in the "penalty" box!
There a few motion penalties that come to mind....but I promised Grace I'd behave!.......
Mr Pru..that was a jab at Irina..Not YOU...don't you remember how I did a <barf> in a post a few months ago when you listed her as a hottie?

I remember....I never claimed to be the sharpest tack in the box, just the best looking!!......... ..... .....
Irina looks just fine in person.
She looked hot from the third row in Detroit. Bright colors look excellent on her IMO. Her COI performance was "interesting". Up close and personal from the second row.....WHEW!!
Now I'll get into trouble from everyone for saying that I think Irina is pretty......oh boy, here we go again!
Well, at least she sneered at both of you. When I was backstage I also congratulated her but she didn't even look up. Just signed her autograph, said thank you and kept on moving.Originally Posted by belladella

I'm back for part 2! I see that my message was combined with the earlier report which is cool. I thought about responding to the first one but then I figured people might not read it since they didn't know there was a second person that was there....at any rate I guess that's what I should have done.
So pick up where I left off....they did have pictures for the skaters to sign. So that was good, although in the interim we had found these blue cards in my mom's purse and we each had two or three of them. They were sort of like business cards but were actually raffle tickets. So, the decision was made that I would go ahead and have them sign the backs of the tickets and everyone else would get the photos. We decided we didn't need four sets of autographs of the photo. So I think I had 8 cards to have signed.
There were more people there than I had cards so I had skip over some of the people. The first lady was a relatively real tall lady with red hair that I did not recognize. Next was a pair that we decided later had won medals in pairs skating--possibly gold. She had blond hair and you can see her in this photo (if this works the way I intend):
As you can see, next up was Plushenko. This was the first person that I could identify by name. So I chose to go up to him first. I didn't say much to him other than 'hi'. Next up, as you can see if Irina Slutskaya. As I had mentioned earlier, she had moved her chair over, so there were actually four people at this table. I had her sign one of my cards. There was then a hold up in the line, I guess it was because Michelle had done the interview and so people had to just wait until she arrived.
The lady behind me had this really weird exchange with Irina. She said to her: 'Could you say your last name?' Irina said something like Slootskyyah. The lady said 'could you say it again?' Irina, did but it was clearly getting annoying. The lady then goes: 'When you say it, it sounds alot better than when I do'. I think she asked her a third time and Irina did it yet again. And then the lady turned to Plushenko and asked him the same question. At this point, Irina whispered something to Yevgeny and I know it had to be something mean about this lady.
Finally, I got to Michelle. I was pretty enthusiastic for me, with 'hey, Michelle'. She was the first person I was more comfortable talking too...I guess cause the others were foreigners? At any rate, she said things were good and I think I asked her if she was enjoying KC and she it was fine but a little too hot. After I got the autograph I just waited until the rest of my crew caught up. I was basically standing just off to the side of Michelle as the lined continued. When my brother got up there, he was wearing a Braves baseball jersey, and Michelle commented that she had one just like that at home. I thought that was pretty neat that she interacted with the fans and would actually initiate conversation with people. Here is our photo of Michelle:
I had wanted to get Mom in a photo with Michelle but it didn't happen. The line was getting backed up and I know someone commented that we needed to keep things moving so that everyone could see her. If we had pushed it, I think we could have but the moment passed pretty quickly. That said, I was pretty happy with our access to her.
We then moved over to the other line. It was not nearly as long as the other had been. I don't remember it as well. I think Lamiel was up first although I'm not certain. I didn't get his autograph. The main thing for me was getting to meet Tanith. She was sitting next to Lysacek. I talked to her and mentioned her pitch and she laughed and said something about it not being very good. I was with my mom and brother at this point and mom was doing more of the talking to the athletes. I know she told Tanith how much she liked her skating. My brother took this picture:
He actually had trouble getting the flash to work so she posed for the picture twice. She was sweet about it and said it was no problem. You can see Evan on the side. I also got his autograph and talked to him about St Louis. He seemed pretty cool. Johnny Weir was up next and he asked my brother and I if we were twins. We said no and he wanted to know how much age difference. At this point, Rudy Galindo who was sitting next to him, spoke up and got into the conversation and I think took a guess. The answer was 3.5 years. They were both surprised. My mom told them both about us taking her to St Louis for the Trials. And Johnny said that we must be pretty good guys. It was kind of funny. We have pictures of them and we have some photos of all of them on the field but mom didn't forward them to me. So what I posted is all I have.
I think I made a good move to get the cards signed. I wish I had gotten something better for Michelle, a color photo would've been ideal. Someone brought a skate. But the photo they had wasn't real great. It was free so I couldn't complain but a lot of the photo was black and some of them ended up having to sign in the dark part. Michelle's autograph is kind of like that. You can read it but it needs to be in the right light. I may try to get a photo and frame it with the blue card. If the photo I tagged was a better resolution camera, I might print it and frame it with the card. I might try it anyway.
So that is the recap. You can let me know what all I had confused or fill in some of the details on who was there that I only vaguely knew. Hope you enjoyed! Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday!

Thanks SamChez and muroyals for your wonderful reports and pictures!
Thank you SamChez and muroyals for the reports.
Now, are my eyes going or is MK not wearing her necklace? Normally I would think it is my eyes but I saw another picture in the COI thread where she appeared not to be wearing it also. I guess I have just surprised since she never takes it off.
Samchez----- glad I have the power of persuasion- or maybe it is just Michelle's power over you after all. I am so glad you did go, not only for the fun report, the great visuals, but the freaking hilarious replies that have followed!!!

muroyals, thanks for the second part of your report!
I assume the red haired woman was ice dancer Marina Anissina. Here's a pic of her, is this who you saw?Originally Posted by muroyals

Aww, that's too bad. I know what you mean though, that has happened to me at other events. Especially with Michelle, everyone wants to be around her. Thanks so much for the picture you posted, it's great!Originally Posted by muroyals

Thank's for the reviews Smachez and muroyals. Also thanks for the pics Muroyals, they turned out great. The blonde in the photo with Evgeni and Irina is Tatiana Totimaina. She did win the olympic gold medal in pairs skating with her partner Maxim Marinina.

Dude your eyes aren't weird, I noticed that, too. For some reason it just doesn't seem right that she's not wearing it. We're all so used to it!Originally Posted by RA5CViggie

And blisteringly bad video here:
I’m the world’s worst videographer – I can’t focus or zoom worth a crap, and I shake like Palsy Paul after 25 espressos. I’m the world’s worst photographer – I don’t pay attention and randomly snap photos when I happen to think “Oh, I’m supposed to take pictures.” Add to that that I’m shooting video at the same time, making the video shake even more. All this audio/visual documentation is sure to P you O.
Getting this rubbish onto the internet was quite a chore: 1) Connect video camera to VCR, 2) Connect VCR to TiVo, 3) Record video to TiVo hard drive, 4) Save TiVo file to DVD, 5) Download shareware to convert DVD file to avi (seven attempts), 6) Use Windows Movie Maker to get the thing smaller than the 140MB size after the conversion. Hope it’s not too big. The compression makes the video even worse!
It was nice being admired for this short time. Now with this sickening presentation, I will surely be cursed and besmeared for all of time. Enjoy!
PS – I’m still waiting for THE picture from Sheila
How did I miss that? No, there was NO necklace of any kind…and now endless discussions as to what that means.Originally Posted by RA5CViggie
