Note Concert dates for Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows

The Counting Crows have released the tour dates for an upcoming tour with the Goo Goo Dolls. Last time I checked, the dates weren't on the GGD's website.

I picked up the GGD's new CD today and its good. I don't think its as good as Dizzy up the Girl, but then again thats my favorite album by them so its hard to top. On the new album Robbie only sings 2 songs which is good because I don't like him but also means more Johnny!

I saw them in concert back in 2002 with Third Eye Blind and Vanessa Carlton. They were good, though the encore was weak. Iris was the best! I've seen the Counting Crows 5 times in concert and they ALWAYS put on an awesome show. Should be a great concert!

Yzerbear, I think you and my sister should be *friends* She is also a BIG fan of the GGDs, I am not, *sigh* and she's more of a fan of Johnny than Robbie. My sister begged my dad to go to Borders today and she got the CD and now she's going crazy over it. I like some songs by them though. My favorites are Slide, Iris, Sympathy and I'm Still Here.

ETA: You are so lucky, Jamie! I've never seen a live concert before except on MTV.

My brother got tickets to see the Crows and GGD in Detroit in July!!! I can't wait. He even sprung for the pavillion seats instead of the lawn. I have to say that I loathe Ticketmaster though. The $45 tickets ended up being $60 with all the "fees" and "convience charges." Can't wait to see two of my favorite bands together though.

I think I'll probably go to this concert(they're coming to Raleigh) as well. So far its about the only one I'm interested in this summer.

when i go to the link it says the page either moved or no longer exists. i have seen goo goo dolls a few times in concert. the first time i saw them was when they toured with do doubt and bush. they were good, but i think i expected more from them since they were playing in from of their home crowd (buffalo). but every time i have seen them since, they have only gotten better.

counting crows on the other hamnd, i rarely miss when they are anywhere near me. i have driven to cleveland and any other near enough city to see them. they are my absolute favorite band and they members of the band are so personable and humble and easy to talk to. and they NEVER put on a less than excellent show!!! i heard that the tour is coming to buffalo in july, but i would like to see the other dates. is there a new link somebody could direct me to?

I think the Crows are redoing their site which would be why the link doesn't work.

Here is the info from Ticketmaster's site:
    http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/1024910

Might also try the GGD's site. I know they did update it with the concert dates.

I went to the Goo Goo Dolls (GGD) - Counting Crows concert on Friday. It was a good show. I can't recall the set list now, but I think the GGD started with Stay with You. This was my second GGD concert and was a little annoyed when everyone in the pavillon was standing up. Last time I saw them we had lawn seats and had to stand the entire show because of rude people in front of us standing where they weren't suppose to be. This time since I had pavillon seats I had hoped that I could see the show without having to stand the whole time. I was wrong. Our seats weren't bad, except for the one guy in the middle of the row who got up at least twice during each song. I don't care for when Robbie sings so my sister and I went to the merchandise stand for the first two he sang. "Iris" rocked! The only other complaint I have against the concert was that the encore was weak. The last time I saw the GGD's I wasn't impressed with their choice of song for the encore. They really should save "Iris" or "Name" for the encore instead of some random song from your new album. It needs to be your signature song like Billy Joel and "Piano Man."

EDIT: Found a set list for the GGDs
    Stay With You
    Slide
    Feel the Silence
    Black Balloon
    Smash
    Tucked Away
We'll Be Here (When You're Gone)
    Iris
    Listen
    Name
    Broadway
    January Friend
    Better Days
    Give a Little Bit
    Let Love In
    Become
    Encore: Without You Here

DTE was pretty full. It was the first time in several concerts I've been to where I had to park on the grass. The lawn looked full from where we were sitting. Didn't look like that many people left after the GGDs.

We of course stayed for the Crows since that is like my favorite band. I've seen them 5 times before and each time is different. Adam is such an amazing entertainer and performer, though he seems to have let himself go a bit. Could use to go to the gym. They played a lot of songs they don't normally played. I was surprised to hear "Monkey" and "Miami." They didn't play "Mr. Jones" which was a surprise and only parts of "Murder of One" when Adam turned "Round Here" into "Murder of One." They finished with "Holiday in Spain" which they have closed the show with probably the last 3 times I've seen them. During "Hanging Around" Adam called for Johnny to come on stage, but only the opening band, Working Title, came out.

The Counting Crows played (in no particular order because I didn't write it down): Anna Begins (this was the first song)
    Omaha
    Mrs. Potter's Lullabye
    Miami, New Frontier
    Black and Blue
    Monkey
    Long December
    Big Yellow Taxi
    Hanging Around
    Time and Time Again
Round Here mixed with Murder of One
Holiday in Spain as the encore.

Overall it was a good show. The best part was losing the car in the parking lot for 15 minutes. Oy! Not even hitting the panic button on the keyless entry helped. It was looking bleak for a while, but we managed to finally find it.

All in all a good show. Up next we get to see Live at Meadowbrook on Tuesday!

It was weird. Detroit originally wasn't on the tour list. On July 5th they announced that they were coming July 25th. Tickets went on sale on July 8th. It was all pretty quick. This will be my second time seeing Live in concert. I saw them when they toured with the Counting Crows back in 2000 I think it was. Live hasn't played in Michigan since then I don't think since I've been waiting for them to come back. They put on a good show and I can't wait!

about people standing up at concerts, i just take it as something that's gonna happen. i's a rock concert afterall, not the opera!

krista, i have seen live in concert MANY times. counting crows is my absolute favorite band, but live live (ha ha!) is just as good as counting crows (imho). if you get a chance, you should absolutely see them. i was fortunate enough to see live and counting crows on tour together. talk about a great night of live music!

I know, but whats the point of paying a ton of extra money for a seat if you aren't going to sit in it? If you want to stand the whole show, buy a lawn seat and save the money. Also if you are going to get up every five seconds to go get beer, etc buy a lawn seat.

I saw that tour also and it has got to be my favorite concert of all time. No show has come close to Live with the Counting Crows.

This is the set list I found on Live's message board from one of their recent shows:
    Mystery
    Selling the drama
    Sofia
    The dolphin's cry
    Wings
    I walk the line
    White discussion
    Run to the water
    Dance with me
    They stood up for love
    I Alone
    All over you
    Lightning crashes (my favorite!!!)
    Heaven
    Lakini's juice
    The river
    Show
    Iris

i hear ya about the beer. i'll probably sound like a total prude here, but i hate that they even serve beer. i think they should at least make it harder to buy enough beer and consume enough beer to get you hammered. i have been to a lot of shows, and the only problems that have ever occured were in some way connected to the people being drunk. nothing ticks me off more than people groping eachother in front of me because they are hammered, people fighting near me because they are hammered, people acting like animals because they are hammered...it ruins the show for a lot of people who paid good money to see their favorite bands play.
