No problem! Olympic withdrawal is starting to kick in, so I'm trying to make it last as long as possible. I wish they would've had a separate montage from the credits montage. I like the one CBS did in 98 to Yanni, and the 96 NBC one to Ode to Joy.

What was the deal with the 400 brides? If there was an explanation, I missed it. It looked really strange to me!!

the closing ceremonies was a little boring to me.... better music could have been played while the athletes were entering the arena. i enjoyed avril lavigne's performance and ricky martin made me shake my booty.
i enjoyed sasha's interview and i loved how she ran to find whom she was walking with then realizing she couldnt find them..... hehehhe... that was funny.
I saw Sasha. She was briefly interviewed beside the parade, and fell behind the US contingent.Originally Posted by Yzerbear19
As for my personal opinion of the rest of the ceremony ...
The little girl who sang the Italian anthem (Fratelli d'Italia, isn't that what it's called? Nice song. They seem to have fun singing it.) at the opening and again at the medal ceremony for the 50k ski race, I really enjoyed hearing her. All too often, at events here, some nine year old is called upon to sing the Star Spangled Banner, and she yells, screeches, hollers -- does not sing well at all, and everyone says, "Oh she's so wonderful," and I groan in pain. Well, that little Italian girl did jes' fine.
The Canadian opera singer who sang O Canada! , some lines in French and some in English, o! what a great voice!! I loved it!
The military band that played the Italian anthem, I really liked that, too.
Those other folks ... That April Levine gal, well, she has a cute face. Then the guy, André Botchelli? He forgot to shave! Goes on worldwide television looking like a slob. Good grief! And was he singing in Italian? I couldn't understand him. And then ... that other guy, Ricky something ... Awful! What language was he hollering in, and what was the purpose of those women with all the holes in their stockings? To distract us from the fact that he can't sing??
The really good entertainment part was the people, I guess we can call them the air-crobats, riding on a column of hurricane-force wind ... wow!
But the best part was the mayor of Vancouver.
So, that's my opinion.

Andrea Bocelli deserves some slack for the shaving bit lol. He's blind after all.

I didn't know that. Sorry if I offended anyone with my comment on his unshaven appearance. Too bad his manager, or someone, didn't take care of it, though.Originally Posted by Krista

LOL, Jerry!
As far as I can remember, Bocelli always looks unshaven! I think it is his trademark look!
As to the rest of your post, you are showing your age!
Nice to see someone on here older that I am!

hehe. He really would look better shaven, I agree. And I doubt his being blind has to do with him not shaving, I was just giving you a hard timeOriginally Posted by JerryStopher

i am 24 right now, but my b-day is Saturday
I tried watching the Closing Ceremonies but, knowing Michelle wasn't there, I thought it pure SACRILIGE that the Olympic Committe would even ENTERTAIN the notion of a Closing Ceremony without Michelle
It's an abomination.......when I saw it was on, I felt the sudden urge to start throwing things at my tv

i had no idea andre bocceli was blind.
This closing ceremony was so contrived like the opening ceremony. The best one was the 1996 closing ceremony when the athletes bursted into a conga line and burted onto the field.
So unplanned and so jubilant. All the athletes made the closing ceremony rather than being spectators of the closing ceremony.
The last two Olympic olympic opening and closing ceremonies seem SO contrived to me. At the very least the Greece Opening ceremony was beautiful. The Torino opening was so random.
Overall, this Olympic was underwhelming. There were very few enjoyable moments to me.

Eh. Closing ceremonies were pretty good. Not as good as Salt Lake City.
Sasha looked lost in the crowd, it was funny to watch. Same way she did last week at Palavela - Lost.

Have you heard of 88 ABC's Ode to Joy? Acoustic guitar!! I wish ABC would put out a DVD of their old Olympic coverage - so much better than NBC.Originally Posted by kwantasy
Well, I thought the closing fizzled. Something was missing.
Eek! Sorry. I'm doing it again.

No more negative olympic opinions from me. It's time to enjoy everything [sigh].
I feel better. I will say though that Sasha is a very talented skater and I just love watching her techniques. Her SP brought down the house.

i wish u guys had eurosport over the pond in america. we had uninterrupted live olympic coverage 24/7. i could watch the events in english, french, or russian, whichever struck my fancy at that moment. if u had had that then the turin olympics would have looked a helluva more interesting to u. i bet nbc only showed 3 or 4 hours of it a day if u were so lucky, havily interlaced to boot with commercials. after all, that's what nbc stands for, nothing but commercials. :-)
