Default Leave a message for Michelle!

Let's all leave a positive message for Michelle here. I'm sure she'll be checking in on the forum and we all want her to see just how much we still love, admire, and appreciate her in this difficult time.

    Dear Michelle,

I know this is a difficult time for you, but rest assured, your fans are still behind you 100% of the way. You still Rach! Any injury can be overcome, you just need to believe.

You have shown both courage and grace even when your heart was broken. That says a lot about the character of
a person. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do.

Here's hoping to see you in 2010!

    With love,
    Charmed One

The letter below is from my mom. She wanted to send some good wishes, too.

    Dear Michelle,

If the next four years are as exciting as the past twelve, wow, we'll all be in for an incredible ride. You are truly
an amazing person, both on and off the ice. You bring gracefulness, sportsmanship, dedication, and pure honesty to a sport that can be neither at times.

May it brighten your day and lighten your heart knowing that your fans still care.

Here's wishing you a bright and healthy future.

    Take care.

You're still golden in my books! You mean so much to figure skating and I can't wait to see you skate again!

Michelle, you're the best skater this sport has had the honor of having. You have given so much to fans, to yourself, your family, and the sport. That's more than Olympic gold could ever be worth. You'll always be my Olympic champion. Rest well, and get better soon. I'm so proud of everything you do. You define the word "champion". Your dedication, honesty, longevity, heart, love, and passion wins you a platinum olympic medal in my eyes

In my submission to the good luck card (submitted with the big MKF card) I wrote for you to skate proud, to skate strong and to have fun. You did your best. You came to Torino with pride, you took to the ice with strength, and you sure looked like you had fun at the opening ceremony. You accomplished so much at these games in a matter of two days, you gave it your all. That's everything I wanted to see from you, and you did it.

I'm so incredibly proud of you.

Michelle, you're my 3-time Olympic Champion. And if you ever need to use the adductor muscle in my right hip, I'd glady lend it to you at anytime.

I think this is as good a time as any to break out this little blurb I wrote a few years ago for a writing workshop, just in case Michelle does end up visiting MKF. Our prompt was to write about who we love and why.

"I love Michelle Kwan because she taught me about life. About winning and losing; about trying your best and being thankful for what you have.

I love her because her body can become anger or sorrow or joy. Because in her beauty I have courage to search for my own. Because her smile reminds me there is a God, and He has a plan for us. Because her skating shows me that God knows who I am, and knows the best way to reach my heart.

I love Michelle Kwan because it's not a coincidence that I have watched her grow up on TV for 10 years. I love her because she reminds me that to be human is to fall--and also to fly. Because she shows me that tears can be both happy and sad--and that both are beautiful.

I love her because one day she will stop competing and then figure skating will just be a sport again for me. A gorgeous, nuanced one... but not the same.

I love Michelle because her skating shows me that our bodies hold a piece of perfection, if only for four minutes... I love her because that's enough."

    Dear Michelle,

Your greatest gift to the world is that your spirit and kindness grants us the best performance before you even touch the ice. God Bless.

May your parents win a gold medal for having you and for raising you right.
    "You're beautiful. You're beautiful.
    You're beautiful, it's true.
I saw your face in a crowded place,
And I don't know what to do,
'Cause I'll never be with you."

  12. Default An Offering of Divine Strength

What can I say to Michelle who is having a difficult time? Do I say anything other than to offer an encouraging word? Perhaps the answer lies in my own faith.

Weather conscious of it or not, I know all of us are eternal beings united in spirit and strength. God (no matter what that may be to each of us) offers all of us comfort and strength. And because God is with us every moment, we’re all promised that each day will be brighter than the day before.

Michelle, we wish you continued strength, we honor your courage, we admire your dignity, and we will always hold you in the light.

Love, be well, and take care of yourself.

    Respectfully yours,

Your generosity and self sacrifice, is amazing in your decision in these Olympics. I know it must be hard right now....but always remember, you will leave a bigger mark in this world than just in skating. You have and continue to give, billions of people inspiration in showing how to deal with hardships in life with courage and humility through your many actions in your incredible career.

You are a Champion of much better and greater things than just a sport.

You are Champion of peoples living hearts.

We will never forget your beauty, grace and gentle spirit.

You are only 25.....and your adventure in life is only beginning.

And you have a ton of fans here that will always support you.

    God bless you Michelle......

What a good girl you are! I can't believe that I cried so much tonight after learning the heart breaking news and during the press conference. I didn't even cry when my own grandpa died.

All these heartless reporters. You guys can go pick on somebody else now. Leave our girl alone!!!

    I respect you,
    I admire you.
There are just too many words, so I'll just say this, on behalf of everyone as well:
    I (heart) you.
Everything you do speaks for itself. And we all respond with our hearts.
There's just no other...like you, Michelle.

    Michelle-
I've been watching you skate since both of us were tiny. I have enjoyed every minute of it. Even without the one medal you wanted most, you are still the best skater I've ever seen and I will look forward to seeing you perform for years to come. You're in all of our prayers.

    Michelle-

I’ve always said that you are the only skater who doesn’t need an Olympic gold medal to further her career. People already know what a special skater and person you are. Once again, you have handled yourself with grace and class.

Rest, get well. We all look forward to seeing you on the ice at COI or wherever you choose to skate next.

    Weepy We love you!

    Dear Michelle,

I know your heart must be tearing apart right now. I don't know you personally, but I think the world feels it is your next door neighbor - the girl next door. We've all rooted for you for so long. We've watched you grow up, been there when you soared to emotional heights and lows, and rooted for you year in and year out in our family rooms.

You have represented your country with such grace, dignity, honor, and passion for so many years. You have done the same in your gracious handling of this painful situation.

Although it probably feels like nothing will take away the ache now, I know how grounded you are. If you choose to end your amateur career, think of it as a beginning - the beginning of something more beautiful. Someday, when you find your perfect love, you will find an even more perfect one - a child. More than a gold medal, I have always wished that you'll be able to experience that ethereal perfect love of being a mother. This is what I've always wished for you. It transcends all.

Thank you for sharing your life with us, Michelle.

    Fondly,
    Jessica Turner

    Dear Michelle,

You will always be a Champion to me. Since 96 I've cheered over your victories and cried over defeats, yet you always amaze me everytime. You are a living legend and I wish you a speedy recovery. You're an inspiration and I look forward and support you in whatever decision you make. Lots of love!

    Dear Michelle,
I have loved your skating for a long time. More than any other skater you bring music to life; you don't just skate to the music, but the music itself becomes visible through your interpretation. That will never change. You are as graceful a person as you are a skater. I hope that I have the chance to see you skate again, and I hope there is some comfort in knowing how many people love you, and who would take on some of the burden of today's sadness to lessen yours. I wish you a quick and total recovery.

    Default A message of admiration

    Dear Michelle,

How proud you make me feel. I have never known anyone with such integrity, grace, sportsmanship, and pure heart. I admire you! I respect you! I wish others could emulate your example of honor. I want to thank you for all that you have done for the sport of figure skating. I want to thank you for all the skating moments you have given to myself and other skating fans.

You have been a gift to the sport and to fans all over the World. I am sure your parents are beaming with pride. They have raised an amazing woman.

May God Bless You and be with you all your life.
