She certainly set the stage last August for what will undoubtedly be a resoundingly successful diplomatic mission. I hope she returns home with wonderful memories of her trip that will last a lifetime.

Good for her. Since the article was posted Dec. 30, I would assume "next month" means January, though it's not very clear. It makes sense for an early January trip because 1) she'll probably still be on winter break from school and 2) it leaves plenty of time for her to also do things in Vancouver in February. Not that we know whether she is or not, but I am guessing she will be there.

She is just so admirable, just such a wonderful woman. Her parents should really hold seminars on parenting, they did an amazing job.
    She is so inspiring.
For Michelle it's not about just triple jumps, it's about the passion to skate!

    Isn't that the truth!

Incidentally, I hope Michelle will Blog about this trip on the State Dept. website -- if she has the time, of course.

She is just so busy, even during her break from school. First, a vacation to Hawaii. Then she'll be in the Rose Bowl parade. Then it sounds like she's leaving maybe one day later for Korea. After that I imagine she'll be preparing to go back to school again. Love how she stays so engaged in different things. She's certainly not one to rest on her laurels.

Wow! I truly think she was instrumental in suggesting/initiating this trip as a result of her trip there last summer and her relationship with Yuna Kim! Good luck to her!

Since it is always "tomorrow" in Korea and if she is really going to be there on January 3rd (per the U.S. State Dept) and since it takes 11 or more hours to fly there she would have to be leaving like almost now.
I wonder if they will lend her Air Force One. That might speed things up.

Looks like the day's events were cancelled due to a snow storm.

In Seoul, a blizzard dumped more than 10in (25cm) of snow today – the greatest snowfall since Korea began conducting meteorological surveys in 1937, the state weather agency said.

Gimpo International airport, west of the capital, cancelled 224 flights before resuming service in the afternoon. More than 20 flights between Incheon International airport, south-west of Seoul, and cities in China were also cancelled and another 100 to other regions were delayed.

As subway trains struggled to cope with increased traffic, about 3,600 workers removed the snow from Seoul's roads and pavements."

I just hope she has some fun in the snow. I've been to Seoul and it has great resturants, shopping and warm people.

She's said in the past she doesn't like the cold, which, as pointed out before, can be seen as a bit odd for an ice skater - but both her recent schools have pretty cold winters. Hope we get some news soon.

ETA Good news she made it safe and sound to the Embassy,
