Rohene Ward practice updates

A good friend of mine trains at the same location as Rohene. Robin Wagner has been around quite a bit, (and seems to be really nice) and Rohene has been skating brilliantly!!!

I'm really crossing my fingers for him! I really want him to do well at nats!

That is good to hear. If Rohene skates two good programs he has a chance
to win Nationals. IMO he is that good.

So Rohene is skating as a senior in this year's Nats? I hope so. Sorry for being clueless but I think I'm confusing this year with last year (?) when he failed to qualify for Nats. So I assume he is in this year. Hope he does well. I remember being impressed with his basic skating at 2006 Nats, even when he barely landed one triple jump. I wish him well.

I love to watch Rohene skate and I'd love to see him on the podium too. But, in addition to his inconsistency there are other problems. Among the top Senior men competitors, Rohene is the only one who has several elements that are only given a Level 1 in his programs.

If he's been able to raise them to Level 3, since sectionals, and can land the quad and the combos, then he can finally medal. He does have onelevel four element that he does beautifully, his camel. Surprisingly, his layback is only a Level 1.

His long program is skated to the dramatic Dragon, one of my favorite pieces of music. It suits him so well. He interprets it brilliantly in the second half of his program.

Thanks for sharing donnylutz! It's my understanding that Robin Wagner visited Rohene's rink last week for a few days as a consultant.

belladella, on the positive side, Rohene rotated all his planned jumps at Midwestern Sectionals in mid-November (7 triples with a few errors, fell on the quad toe) and seems to be better about not letting a jump mistake affect his next jump(s).
