Good grief. None of the other skaters were even CLOSE to Michelle in scores.

OK...first thing is first, Soldatova did NOT fall on the 3lutz/2toe, she fell on the 3flip. And another interesting note, which might be a typo, an article listed that Michelle Kwan's program was the only clean short program with THREE triples. That is probably just a typo because the information I posted should be very reliable. But if that is true, can anyone verify what the jumps were? And if she did do 3 triples, it means Michelle did a triple-triple combination.

didn't she do a toe, a lutz, and a 3/2 combo?? That's what I *think* she did at SA...

OK...at Skate America, Michelle did 2axel, 3lutz/2toe, and 3toe, which is 2 triples: 3lutz and 3toe. But on the report from Skate Canada, the report said she landed 3 triples in her short program, if this information is true, Michelle MUST have landed a triple/triple because in order for there to be a third triple, there must be a triple/triple. Since there are 3 jumping passes and one required is a 2axel, the other is a plain triple and the jump combo which has to be triple/triple. Most likely, I am taking the report as a typo. Still, can ANYONE verify this?

The tech. marks were way too low for a triple-triple.

not necessarily, is a 3t/3t worth more than a 3l/2t? some say yes and some say no so it depends on what the judges think. but i'm almost sure i read somewhere else that michelle did her ususal three jumps

we know now that she did her usual triple. I forget to explain how I come to my conclusion. If she did a 3t-3t, she has to do her solo one a 3s, 3f, 3l or 3z. That has to have a higher base mark than 3z/2t with a 3t. Right?

I SERIOUSLY think that was a typo! Why would MK do a 3/3 in the sp here? I could understand if she wanted to try the 3 flip....

I do not think that Michelle did a triple-triple. However, I think it is possible for a skater to do three triple toe loops in a short program. I believe Amber Corwin did this at the 1999 U.S. Nationals for her short program.

I think there is a mandatary deduction (0.4?)for having the same jump for both jump combination and solo jump.

At the 1999 U.S. Nationals, Amber Corwin did a 3toe/3toe and a 3loop. Many of us have forgotten about the Zayak rule from 1994, you can't repeat any triple in the SP except in the same combination. (i.e. you can do a 3toe/3toe and a solo triple other than a 3toe. you can't do a maybe a 3lutz/3toe and another solo 3toe...that would be a 0.4-0.5 deduction.) And if Michelle did land a triple-triple...a 5.5 would be WAY TOO LOW, so probably a typo.
