Can NOTHING go Michelle's way???

-Heather (who didn't mind the short program, but this is like the fat lady taking the microphone into her hands)

The way things are going I wouldn't have been surprised if the final group was cut down to five and Michelle was tacked onto the very beginning of one of the earlier groups.

I do hope the Americans that didn't want MK representing them are enjoying this. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> I'll be surprised if she doesn't get spit on after tomorrow.

March 31st, 2000, 07:15 AM
ROTFLMAO, littlepebbles. It does seem extraordinarily coincidental for MK to be first up in both rounds. I'm beginning to think that when it's MK's turn to pick from the hat that all the slips of paper have "1" on them. Could be me though.

March 31st, 2000, 07:18 AM
And remember, she also skated first in the final group during the Olympics...

March 31st, 2000, 07:36 AM
ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGHHHH!What kind of scores do you guys think MK will get if she skates the LP clean? Cause we all know they HAVE to hold her scores down.

I was sooo excited about this week for SOOO Long!!! OH WELL!!!! If Marie Butttttttthead (forgot how to spell her name*giggle*) comes above Michelle, I will just cry. But now that I'm pretty sure that since Michelle skates FIRST in the long program that she's gonna havta do 10 triple triples, and skate to Swan Lake to win, and a few quadruples...oh well!!!! Go Michelle!!!
She's still the best IMHO and I'm sure all of yours so Piss on you to the judges and everyone else who makes the mistake of crossing my path today.

If both Michelle and Irina were clean in QB, and the judges went for the technical portion to give Irina the lead, then why in the short program did they go for Maria's presentation rather than Irina's more difficult technique (or should I refer to it as the more difficult solo jump?)? I do believe that Michelle's skateing first affected the results drastically. However, I am going to continue with my objective--simply to enjoy Michelle's skating and forget about the judges. Smile Michelle, and deliver a glorious freeskate!

March 31st, 2000, 07:55 AM
I'm sickend by the judges scores for Michelle's SP. I CAN'T BELIEVE she's first on the ice AGAIN in the LP. What are the chances????? This really stinks. I'm speechless...these judges are..are..are....sigh

At any rate, I'm glad she skated well

Well the officer who has been helping Michelle to draw the skating order should be immediately fired!!! :P

Now I am starting to think that a clean Michelle is not enough, even if she has 7 triples and the 3/3toe, the judges will have excuses to hold her down anyway...even a 6 tripled program from Irina or Maria can beat her, not to mention they are both Russian (all European judges tomorrow?), and that Maria is the defending world champion and Irina will just beat her coz everyone thinks that way...

What Michelle should do tomorrow is to skate her personal best...and everyone will be happy, except the judges...who cant be happy at Michelle's performance in any way...a medal is meaningless at this point...

March 31st, 2000, 08:59 AM
Take it easy guys..... think of 1988 Oly's, Brian Boitano! He just LOVES setting the standards, and he won there. I wish he could call her on the phone and talk to her for awhile, and tell her how she can set the standards. It seemed to work mighty well for BB!

March 31st, 2000, 10:15 AM
Maria purportedly had the skate of her life in the SP and Irina had a baubble on her lutz combo. 99 out of a 100 times, it would have been the other way around. But who knows what's going to happen?

March 31st, 2000, 11:05 AM
Waaaaa, Waaaaaaa, Waaaaaa, Waaaaa! Why is it that Michelle is always skating first? This is really starting to suck! Well here is the bright side Irina skates after Maria. On another cheery note maybe this will be the year for Maria to have a splat fest on the ice (giggling) Sorry just had to get that out.

I am just not a happy camper that Michelle has to skate first. ITA with whoever said it sorry I can't remember that all the papers have "1" written on them when Michelle goes to draw her position and after she is done then they switch the papers for the rest of the numbers

You could be right! Why has the Starting Order now been taken down?! Viktoria V. is supposed to be tested for drugs today. Could she have tested positive and now not being skating in the LP?!

March 31st, 2000, 11:45 AM
Thank you -- I have posted two seperate threads asking why the orders are now down. Could this mean anything or is this normal

March 31st, 2000, 11:52 AM
Thank you Littlepebbles! LOL That's the first time I've laughed all day. Maria being ahead of Michelle, Michelle not being "in control" in the LP, trolls, FSW everything today was sending my raging PMS through the ROOF. Not to mention that I went to bed at 1am and got up at 5am! And I have to take my sons to "WWF Fan Fest" tonight to meet wrestlers. You don't know how much I needed that laugh.

Here's a CTV article that mentions Viktoria's problems:

www.ctvsportsnet.com/skati (http://www.ctvsportsnet.com/skati)

This article is about the Ladies
SP, with some interesting Michelle quotes. But if you don't want to have to sift through the article to find the Viktoria stuff, here's the quote about her:

"In seventh is Viktoria Volchkova, who has fallen victim to France's unusual law which allows the government to randomly test any athlete competing within its borders. Someone reported to the authorities that she was seen "sniffing" something and authorities came to her room to test her. Results of that investigation are to be announced tonight."

And here's an article about Viktoria only from FoxSports:

Why maria has all the luck? She loves to bad monthed MK, and if there is
a god, she got rewared for having to be in a easy Q. group and good
skating orders. What gives? Nice girls do finish last. This sucks!!

March 31st, 2000, 05:46 PM
What I worry is...if Maria really beat MK (touch wood) then from now on she will bad-mouth Michelle every year when it is close to the World Championships because it has worked for her for 2 years now that she would get good results after she bad-mouthed Michelle.

I don't think I'd be too worried about Maria beating Irina, if I were you. Even if Irina doesn't even attempt a 3-3, much less both of them, she's beaten Maria without them several times already this season (and on the one occasion when Maria actually landed her 3-3). The basic quality of her skating is so much better: she skates faster, has better spring on her jumps, has better flexibility, a more refined and better positioned spiral, and her music, although overused, just like Maria's is more dynamic and dramatic. She also has the advantage of skating afterward, knowing exactly what Maria has done. Maria's LP is choreographically weak and uninteresting, her technique is not as pure, her jumping is not nearly as consistent, and if Irina skates decently with at least one 3-3, she should not only win, but blow Maria out of the water.

March 31st, 2000, 06:16 PM
I'd be lying if I said that I'm happy with the way things have gone so far. I remember last year, counting on Maria to fall apart but she didn't. I'm not going to rely on any of these things: Maria falling, Irina beating Maria but not Michelle, Sarah not beating Michelle. I just want Michelle to be happy. Please, just let Michelle be happy with herself and I will be happy also.

March 31st, 2000, 06:51 PM
Yup, I am not worried about medals really, but just how Maria is being so arrogant and so wicked that she has to say bad things about Michelle everytime for her to have a chance to win...imagine how Michelle will feel.

March 31st, 2000, 09:02 PM
Michelle can still win. I believe in her. For me, it doesn't matter what happens, I know Michelle will skate very very well, with 3/3 combo and 7 triples in The Red Violin.

She'll set the standard, like Kulik in 1998 Nagano, long program, and throw the challenge to the field. Then the judges will have no excuse to give her the Gold. I know this can happen, and let's remember, Irina skates after Maria, and this is a great sign for Irina to beat Maria in the long program. And let's remember Maria's nerves....

April 1st, 2000, 04:18 AM
I'm not a fan of Maria's skating but her short program is better than her long. I think it's mainly because of the music. It is Sarah Brightman isn't it? I just don't think her long program is as good as Michelle's or Irinas. I have no idea if this has anything to do with anything, but I'm happy because her long program in my opinion is yucky. Couldn't think of a better word. Please don't be mad. I like the beginning of The Red Violin. I hope Michelle skates with her old magic and just shows everyone that she's a major force in the skating world.
